  • Controls & Automation Engineer

    The Role The Automation Engineer will work as part of a site‑based engineering team in delivering projects and in supporting production and new product development teams. Key Responsibilities Commissioning of new and modified process and utility equipment. Troubleshoot process, plant and equipment automation and controls hardware and software issues. Support development of new processes and new product introductions. Translating BMI steps into receipt requirements. Scope and oversee automation and controls projects qualification and commissioning on site. Attain knowledge and understanding of the plant equipment, unit operations and utility systems in order to enhance its performance as part of project‑specific initiatives. Develop and/or review commissioning documents. Provides on‑call support and attends site call‑outs, outside of normal working hours. Create, review, and approve automation change controls. Maintain all site automation systems in a manner that meets organisation standards, statutory and compliance requirements, and minimises equipment downtime. Electrical drawing mark‑up, review and approval. Lead and/or participate in process, quality and safety inspections, audits, deviation investigations, HAZOPs, change management, root cause analysis and development of solutions. Education, Knowledge & Experience B.Sc. in Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Automation or Instrumentation with a minimum of 5 years’ experience. Knowledge of DeltaV or other DCS system is required. Ability to design, configure, program and commission. Chemical or pharmaceutical experience is preferable, technical knowledge of production processes and operations. Knowledge and understanding of hardware and software drawings in relation to E&I and P&ID’s. Process safety knowledge and experience including ATEX regulations (EX / IS systems), HAZOPs and risk assessments.
