  • Senior Mechanical Data Centre Engineer

Senior Data Centre Mechanical Engineer We currently have a requirement for a Senior Data Centre Mechanical Engineer to join our successful and growing Building Engineering Group. Based in our Dublin office, the ideal candidate will be looking to further their career and gain invaluable experience in Building Services within an established consultancy with a friendly and team-focused office environment. This is a permanent role and offers the successful candidate long-term opportunities for career development. The successful candidate will assume a lead role in a diverse and challenging range of design projects within the Science, Industry and Technology sector. Our global and local teams continue to lead the market in terms of our focus and continued innovation around sustainability (net-zero, embodied carbon, circular economy) and digital (smart, BIM). The Role This is a very exciting role, providing you the opportunity to develop into a leadership position with the support and mentoring of our large and expanding team. You will be given the support to develop your team and client leadership skills whilst taking responsibility for leading small projects and developing your multi-disciplinary knowledge. Responsibilities will include: Project Planning (resources and fees).Managing the mechanical design concepts that encompass the latest design thinking on low energy/water data centre design, resilience, commissioning and maintenance.Coordinating the design analysis and working with the team to optimise systems.Managing the production of models, drawings, reports and specifications.Assuming a lead role liaising with architects, clients and other stakeholders to set the constraints of the mechanical design and co-ordinate with all other disciplines in terms of the mechanical requirements and the mechanical discipline’s influence on all others.Supervising and coordinating the work of others and coordinating work with engineers of other disciplines including in-house specialists.Assuming a lead role with the supply chain and contractors to co-ordinate the successful delivery of the MEP installations.Cost estimating, procurement & cost control.Program and project management.Mentoring and development of junior colleagues and continuing your own professional development. We expect that you have experience working on the development of data centre projects throughout all stages of design and construction and that you will have had some experience of direct client and contractor interaction regarding topics such as: Design of different cooling solutions including chilled water systemsPUE/WUE calculations and efficienciesTIER levels of resilience and business continuityTesting and commissioning Desirable characteristics include: Inquisitive nature and desire to investigate and research new opportunities, ways of working and technologies that enhance our offering.Desire to develop the Data Centre business through attending industry events, speaking at conferences and developing relationships with industry partners. Working closely with designers of other disciplines to produce co-ordinated designs taking account of hydrogeological considerations. We're looking for graduates who are currently pursuing a degree in Geology or Earth Science with MSc in Hydrogeology or equivalent. The ideal candidate will have a higher degree in Hydrogeology, although consideration may be given to holders of a degree or higher degree in other subjects providing you have relevant experience in hydrogeology. We also value: Excellent report writing skills and proficient user of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and ArcMap (or similar GIS package). Either be or working towards accreditation (PGeo) with Institute of Geologists of Ireland, or membership with similar professional body.
