The Opportunity We are currently seeking a Graduate Hydrogeologist to join our specialist team of groundwater practitioners located in Dublin, Ireland. The team is responsible for hydrogeological input to a portfolio of exciting, varied and multi-disciplinary projects and for groundwater-specific projects covering groundwater resources, groundwater engineering and environmental impact assessment both in Ireland and internationally. As a Graduate Hydrogeologist at Arup, you will: Groundwater resources and supply investigations including borehole performance assessment, borehole feasibility studies and design and supervision of borehole supplies. Groundwater components of Environmental Statements/ Environmental Impact Assessments - this will involve preparation and coordination of groundwater resources and groundwater flooding EIA documents and technical assessment, as well as providing responses to petition queries, hydrogeological analyses and specialist opinion to support previously published environmental assessments. Hydrogeological ground investigations, including conducting and analysing hydrogeological pumping tests and environmental monitoring. Groundwater modelling including groundwater flow and contaminant modelling for engineering, resources and risk assessment purposes. Hydrogeological impact assessment and mitigation for new developments and engineering proposals. Working closely with designers of other disciplines to produce co-ordinated designs taking account of hydrogeological considerations. Attending project meetings and communicating with all grades of staff, external design team members and clients. Does this role inspire you? We're looking for graduates who are currently pursuing a degree in Geology or Earth Science with MSc in Hydrogeology or equivalent. The ideal candidate will have a higher degree in Hydrogeology, although consideration may be given to holders of a degree or higher degree in other subjects providing you have relevant experience in hydrogeology. We also value: Excellent report writing skills and proficient user of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and ArcMap (or similar GIS package). Either be or working towards accreditation (PGeo) with Institute of Geologists of Ireland, or membership with similar professional body. Enthusiasm and experience in the field of hydrogeology gained on projects. You will be an inquisitive, creative, solution-orientated designer. Have an awareness and willingness to develop understanding of infrastructure and development projects beyond your own discipline. Experience in liaison with, and supervision of, site investigation contractors or laboratories. Ability to work under pressure, balance priorities, and meet strict deadlines is essential. Excellent planning, organisational and time management skills. Demonstrate a strong ability to communicate through sketching, drawing, presentations, and in writing. Demonstrated experience in the design (including BCAR requirements) of the Building Services Mechanical systems such as HVAC, public health, BMS/controls, etc. As a senior MEP grade, a core knowledge of Building Services Electrical systems. Revit experience would be an advantage. Minimum 5 years' experience working in the Irish Market essential.
