  • GSW Solutions are recruiting for the role of Social Care Workers for our Client in the Sligo area. Purpose of the Role: The Social Care Worker/HCA is expected to engage in daily activities and routines of the service that they are working in, inclusive of direct support to service users, administration work and daily tasks required of them. The SCW/HCA is required to work as part of a dedicated and innovative team within Residential Services providing a service to service users in line with their regulations & standards. Main Responsibilities: Be accountable for supporting the day to day running of the service and responsible for the execution and delivery of a person-centered approach. Under the general supervision of the line manager, ensure that the Service User's personal plan is completed in line with regulations and standards provided. Be committed to pro-actively supporting service users in their daily lives and choices. Ensure that all files are in line and ready for an Inspection at any given time. Engage with families, clinicians and build links in the community. Experience implementing positive support programmes. Focus on promoting independence and community integration. Keep up to date on knowledge relating to current social care policies and sectoral and national changes related to disability services. Motivate, support and encourage service users to engage in planned activities of their choice. Take ownership and lead key working in consultation with the service users, motivating them to engage in meaningful activities. Support the care of the service user such as personal care and providing a general overview of their everyday needs. Take personal responsibility for educating yourself about each service user, listening to the service user and utilizing reflective practice to enhance and develop your own skills and knowledge. Follow, assess, and participate in the continual development of strategies and tactics for meeting the ongoing requirements of those being supported. The Social Care Worker/HCA will be expected to work as part of a team, inclusive of supporting other staff members in relation to taking ownership of their workload. All staff are required to attend regular team meetings and engage positively in supervisions by the Person in Charge. In line with GDPR, maintain and uphold the organisation's and Service Users' confidentiality at all times. Undertake required Health and Safety checks and Risk Assessments and record and report effectively. Liaise with multi-disciplinary teams, families and other relevant people pertaining to the service user. Carry out required Health and Safety related observing and reporting. Contribute to Service Users' Person Centred Planning meetings and other relevant meetings pertaining to the Service User, follow up on any actions, outcomes from the meetings. Be flexible and willing to work shifts to meet the needs of the service. Undertake any other work which may arise within the scope of Social Care Worker in order to meet the requirements of the service. Purpose of the Role: The Health Care Assistant is expected to engage in daily activities and routines of the service that they are working in, inclusive of direct support to service users, administration work and daily household tasks required of them. The Health Care Assistant is required to work as part of a dedicated and innovative team within Residential Services providing a service to service users in line with HIQA regulations & standards. Main Responsibilities: Ensure delivery of a high standard of care. Assist with the child/adult's activities and care as assigned by the Manager and as indicated in the person's Integrated Care Plan. Encourage recognition of the child/adult as an individual ensuring that they and their family's needs and comforts are given priority. Ensure that all files are in line and ready for a HIQA Inspection at any given time. Act as an advocate for the child/adult and family ensuring the provision of appropriate information and support. Ensure that colleagues assist in all aspects of the child's/adult's Integrated Care Plan in a safe and observant manner. Report changes noted in the child/adult's condition/behaviour to the Manager. Develop social interaction for children/adults individually and in a group setting. Report requests, queries from children/adults/parents/visitors to the Manager. Be aware of the uses, safety precautions and handling of equipment. Report all incidents and complaints involving self, children/adults or visitors to Manager and ensure incident/complaint form is completed. Receive all visitors and family members to the unit with courtesy. Participate in all communication processes - team meetings/staff forums/emails.
