Role:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Mechanical Engineer to design, implement, and oversee the mechanical aspects of Watt Footprint’s energy efficiency and sustainability projects. This role involves working closely with our technical and project teams to develop and integrate mechanical systems that enhance energy efficiency, reduce carbon footprints, and support clients in meeting their sustainability goals. The successful candidate will play a key role in system design, performance analysis, and project execution, ensuring innovative and high-quality mechanical solutions are delivered.
While this role is remote, candidates must be based in Ireland, possess a driver’s licence, and be available for monthly company training events.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and develop mechanical systems and components for energy efficiency projects.
Conduct client and site visits and prepare technical reports, documentation, and specifications for mechanical installations.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineers, energy consultants, and project managers, to integrate mechanical systems into broader project designs.
Oversee the implementation and commissioning of mechanical systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards and best practices.
Ensure all mechanical designs adhere to relevant building codes, safety regulations, and environmental standards.
Provide technical support and troubleshooting during project execution and post-installation phases.
Required Skills & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
5+ years of experience in mechanical engineering, preferably in energy efficiency, HVAC, renewable energy, or sustainability projects.
Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, including heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC), heat pumps, and energy-efficient building services.
Experience in energy modelling, thermal analysis, and mechanical system optimisation.
Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) and relevant engineering tools.
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to analyse complex technical challenges.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
