Contract type: Full time, permanent
Weekly hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday (Possible Saturdays included in future)
Shift Times: 8am to 4.30pm, 5 days per week
Location: The drivers base is located at Toughers, Naas Enterprise Park, Naas, Co Kildare. Drivers carry out nationwide deliveries.
Annual salary: €31,000 - €33,000 depending on experience, paid monthly.
Role Overview
Driver based out of Toughers, Kildare. The van driver will deliver and collect from our stores throughout the country and support Vision Ireland Retail shop teams. Offer assistance to retail shop teams to increase sales and profits for the benefit of people who are blind and vision impaired, supporting and endorsing the aims and values of the organisation.
Responsibilities
Support Vision Ireland Retail shops by collecting and delivering clothing.
Maintain assigned vehicle with regard to daily/weekly driver checks.
Fully comply with Irish Driving regulations and traffic laws.
Comply with health and safety working practice.
Ensure that all vehicles are kept clean and tidy and cleaned out at least once a week.
Ensure no Vision Ireland Retail vehicle is damaged.
Ensure that no violation of the Road Traffic Act is breached when using Vision Ireland Retail vehicles.
Pass verbal and written reports of any damages to vehicles immediately to the line manager; take pictures and exchange insurance and contact details.
Present a good image of Vision Ireland Retail at all times.
Be willing to work reasonable additional hours and perform any other duties as required.
Travel to meetings and training sessions as required.
Have basic knowledge of Vision Ireland Retail's structures and current activities.
Engage and support fund‑raising and marketing initiatives.
Ensure instructions and information received are communicated to van team members and actioned regularly using appropriate communication tools.
Ensure all documents are completed (e.g. collection/delivery notes signed, vehicle checklists, mileage sheets, fuel receipts) and returned to the Warehouse Manager.
Work with shop teams to ensure an effective time‑management programme is operated.
Administer confidential practical help requests via appropriate channels.
Comply with Vision Ireland Retail van administration procedures and all other directives within agreed timescales.
Maintain satisfactory compliance in respect of Vision Ireland Retail audits and health & safety audits.
Securely park and lock vehicles each day and lock any shutters/gates.
Follow all Vision Ireland Retail policies and procedures, including equal opportunities.
Minimise environmental impact of van activities and follow environmental policies.
Report any maintenance or security concerns to the SMC.
Follow manual handling guidelines at all times.
Carry out all reasonable tasks and requests as assigned by manager/supervisor.
Essential Experience, Skills and Competencies
Proven multi‑drop van driving experience.
Eligibility to work full‑time in ROI.
Good local geographical knowledge.
Good interpersonal skills.
Ability to use initiative.
Ability to work independently.
Full, clean driver’s licence is essential.
Preferred Experience
Experience working for a not‑for‑profit organisation is an advantage.
Manual handling certification.
