Program Overview
This Work Placement Experience Programme provides Participants with an opportunity to gain meaningful work experience, learning and training while on the programme. The programme is for jobseekers who are in receipt of qualifying social welfare payments and those transferring from a social welfare scheme or an ETB Training Allowance. Eligibility for this programme will be verified by the Department as part of the application process.
Job Description
Applicants should supply suitable character references and be prepared to complete a Garda vetting application form.
Waterford Montessori School has been in operation for 35 years and we are a child‑centred Montessori and after‑school service. As part of our team you will be trained in how to support and help develop a curriculum for each of our sessions.
Key Activities (under supervision only)
Assisting early years manager with curriculum planning.
Creating a yearly curriculum.
Assisting with set up of weekly themed curriculum board.
Laminating cutting and assembling classroom displays.
Helping educators prepare visual aids and activity materials.
Assisting in creating seasonal or thematic decorations and props.
Assisting in the stocking up of resources needed.
Assisting manager with documentation/administration compliance for preschool inspections.
The participant will not be responsible for or directly interact with children. This is a non‑contact support role. The participant will always work under supervision and will not be included in staff‑child ratios. This role does not require a childcare qualification.
Role Description
This is a training and work experience opportunity; no prior experience in this role is necessary. Accredited and/or sector recognised training will be provided to support your placement. Participants are eligible to participate in the WPEP QQI Work Experience Module which was developed by the Education & Training Boards in collaboration with the Department of Social Protection. This optional module will fulfil your accredited training requirements for the WPEP.
