We currently have a vacancy for a Driver with a base out of Cherry Orchard . The van driver will deliver and collect from our stores throughout the country. This is a full time role, 37.5 hours per week. Shift Times: 8am - 4.30pm The successful candidate should be available from Monday - Saturday Closing Date: 31st of March at 5pm Overview Of Role Offer every assistance to retail shop teams to increase sales & profits for the benefit of people who are blind and vision impaired, supporting and endorsing the aims and values of the organisation. Responsibilities Support Vision Ireland Retail shops by collecting and delivering furniture. Ensure that all furniture is safely secured in vehicles and all parts are intact. Support Vision Ireland Retail shops by assisting with furniture assembly & shop displays and removing any rubbish or unsalable furnishings. Maintain assigned vehicle with regard to daily/weekly driver checks. Fully comply with Irish Driving regulations and traffic laws. Comply with health and safety working practices. Ensure that all vehicles are kept clean and tidy and cleaned out at least once a week. Ensure no VISION IRELAND Retail vehicle is damaged. Ensure the Driver's Assistant always gets out of the van and guides the driver when reversing. Ensure that no violation of the Road Traffic Act is breached when using VISION IRELAND Retail vehicles. Ensure that verbal and written reports of any damages to vehicles are passed immediately to the line manager. Present a good image and 'face of VISION IRELAND RETAIL' at all times. Be willing to work reasonable additional hours and perform any other additional duties as required. Travel to meetings and training sessions as required. Engage and support fundraising and marketing initiatives. Ensure that all instructions and information received is communicated to van team members and actioned regularly. Effectively induct, train, develop and retain van volunteers. Ensure all documents are completed and returned to the Shop Team daily. Assist in planning the best and most economical routes for collections and deliveries. Ensure all requests for practical help are administered confidentially. Ensure a satisfactory level of compliance in respect of VISION IRELAND Retail audits and health & safety audits. Ensure vehicles are securely parked and locked each day. Comply with VISION IRELAND Retail health & safety policies and report any concerns. Carry out all reasonable tasks and requests as assigned by manager/supervisor. Essential Experience, Skills And Competencies Proven multi-drop van driving experience. Good local geographical knowledge. Good interpersonal skills. Ability to use initiative. Purpose of the post: To provide a quality and professional service to children with vision loss and their families to moderate the impact of vision loss and ensure children are supported to achieve their potential. Responsibilities To liaise with referrers and manage intake of referrals of children according to Vision Ireland's agreed protocols. To provide in-depth functional impact assessment at baseline and ongoing, with all children deemed appropriate for referral to Vision Ireland services. To independently manage a caseload of children using a tiered approach to intervention based on assessed needs. To advise and/or deliver intervention programmes to children with vision loss, ranging from universal, targeted and/or individualised solutions and strategies which include the following areas: Development/enhancement of independent living skills Maximising residual vision Development of compensatory skills Communication skills & assistive technology Safe and independent travel skills Environmental adaptation To provide an appropriate level of emotional support and demonstrate empathy to families and children and refer on for further support where necessary.
