The Role This is a full-time position, working 40 hours per week across 4–5 days, with shifts scheduled on a rota basis between 8:30am and 6:00pm, Monday to Friday. You’ll manage a mix of consultations, surgical procedures, and case work, with the opportunity to further develop your interests - particularly in surgery, imaging, or dentistry. The practice operates a shared out-of-hours rota with a neighbouring IVC practice, currently 1 in 9 weeknights and 1 in 9 weekends. Weekday on-call is supported with time off in lieu, ensuring a balanced approach to workload and rest. Facilities & Team You’ll be based across our Galway sites, including our referral centre in Knocknacarra and our city centre branch. Our facilities include advanced diagnostics and surgical equipment such as CT, ultrasound, digital radiography, endoscopy, dental suites, and modern operating theatres. You’ll join a well-established, collaborative team of veterinary professionals, including experienced vets, veterinary nurses, a practice manager, and dedicated support staff, all committed to delivering exceptional patient care. What We’re Looking For We’re seeking a confident, experienced small animal vet who is comfortable managing first opinion cases and enjoys a varied clinical workload. You must be VCI registered, able to work independently, and committed to delivering a high standard of patient and client care. A certificate or strong interest in developing a particular clinical area would be highly valued. Please note this role is not suitable for new graduates or those requiring close mentorship.
