  • 34 Months, Fixed Term, whole-time Post The Medical Education Unit, School of Medicine UCC is recruiting a Post-Doctoral Researcher to work on a Health Research Board funded project. The project is an interdisciplinary collaboration with partners in the health and higher education sectors across Ireland. The research focuses on educating healthcare professionals to address the planetary crisis in their daily practice. Individual studies include literature reviews, large-scale surveys, interview/focus groups studies, co-design, consensus building, implementation and evaluation studies. These posts are suitable for newly qualified PhDs in areas such as health professions' education, sustainability education, health services research, public health, psychology, sociology, etc. Training in specific methodologies will be provided as required. Further opportunities for professional development will be provided by the UCC Post-Doc Development Hub. The Post-Doctoral Researchers will be part of a team of six full-time research staff and a part-time Research Administrator under the supervision of Prof. Deirdre Bennett.   • 12 Months, Fixed Term, Whole-time Post INFANT is now accepting applications for a Clinical Research Fellow to work on a number of probiotic projects assessing the impact of probiotic administration on the gut microbiome in infants and children under 2 years of age. These studies include two probiotics: Lacticaseibacillus rhamnosus (LRa05) and Bifidobacterium animalis subsp. lactis (BLa80). There are four randomised trials being performed in total including infants and children in the 0-6 months, 6-12 months and 12-24-month age groups. The successful Fellow will work in conjunction with a multidisciplinary team and will be based at the INFANT Centre, Cork University Maternity Hospital and Brookfield, UCC. The successful candidate will join a multi-national, trans-disciplinary team contributing to the ALANIS project (Impacts of artificial light at night on pelagic ecosystems in European seas), funded through JPI Oceans. The Institute focuses on developing innovative technologies, tools, and services to support the transition to a zero-carbon and resource-efficient society.   • 12 Months, Fixed Term, whole-time Post We are currently recruiting a Post-Doctoral Scientist, with a background in biomaterial and analytical science, to join an Industry-funded multidisciplinary research project. The Post-Doctoral Scientist will join our research team to undertake thorough experimental investigations into the process factors influencing biomaterial solution stability. The project seeks to establish analytical methodologies to determine solution stability and conduct experimental runs to investigate the solution stability under simulated production stresses such as temperature, time, forced degradation. The successful candidate will be expected to apply their experience to conduct risk assessments and develop experimental protocols. The candidate will be expected to prepare solutions of the biomaterial of interest under a range of conditions and explore solution stability employing analytical procedures they will establish as part of the project. The candidate should have previous experience of collecting, structuring, and analysing RP-HPLC data. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated with ability to conduct independent research to a high level and possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. The candidate will be based in the laboratory space in the School of Pharmacy, UCC, working with Prof. Abina Crean, Prof. Melissa Hanna-Brown, and Dr. Lorraine Bateman, University College Cork.
