The UCC Cancer Trials Group (UCC CTG) is looking for an enthusiastic Research Assistant/Clinical Trials Associate to work in a growing data management team in the Cancer Trials Cork Unit at the Cork University Hospital.   • 4 Years, Fixed Term, whole-time Post The Sustainability Institute/School of BEES are now recruiting for a Post-Doctoral Researcher to work on the project ' The spatial and population ecology of white-tailed eagles since their reintroduction to Ireland'. A total of 245 white-tailed eagle chicks have been reintroduced to Ireland since 2007 and there is now an established breeding population of about 15 pairs. All reintroduced birds have been satellite or wing tagged to follow their movement and survival. The aim of this project is to investigate these extensive, unique datasets to help understand the population dynamics, population viability, and the movement ecology of this reintroduced population. The focus is to analyze existing data, though there could be an opportunity to drive further fieldwork if a clear need is identified. Achievement of the expected progression within Post Doc and Senior Post Doc is transferable between the Irish HEI's. This can be reflected in the starting pay of a PD researcher.   • (8) Months Specific Purpose Whole-Time Post The CRF-UCC is now seeking a dynamic candidate for the key position of Centre Manager (Senior Research Coordinator) to ensure the smooth and efficient day-to-day running of the Centre. The Centre Manager will manage and ensure full implementation of grant award conditions, as well as relevant UCC Finance, Procurement, HR, IT, Research and Health & Safety policies and procedures. The Centre Manager will engage effectively with key stakeholders and funders. As a member of the CRF Management team they will contribute operational expertise in the development and implementation of organisational policies, practices, projects, delivery of KPIs, reporting and the development of funding proposals. The Centre Manager will be expected to contribute to the development and implementation of CRF-UCC strategy and to contribute to business development. The project firstly focuses on advancing the science underpinning sustainable, healthy and liveable cities of the future. This frontier research employs largescale digital datasets, artificial intelligence and statistical methods to quantify urban environmental metrics (e.g. emissions, air pollution and greenspace) and urban dynamics in unprecedented accuracy and scale in several cities.   • 10 Months, Fixed Term, Whole-time Post INFANT Research Centre is now accepting applications for a Clinical Research Fellow to work on the Acumen trial which is about to start recruitment at Cork University Maternity Hospital. The Acumen trial is a multi-centre phase I dose Escalation and cohort expansion study of melatonin as an adjunct neuroprotectant agent for newborn infants with hypoxic-ischaemic encephalopathy (HIE) undergoing therapeutic hypothermia (HT) treatment. As this is the first-in-human Phase 1 multi-centre trial of melatonin in this population, the aim is to evaluate the safety and pharmacokinetics of IV melatonin in term neonates with HIE receiving therapeutic hypothermia to inform the optimal dose to be used in future efficacy studies. The Clinical Research Fellow will be involved in all aspects of the study, including recruitment, neurological assessment, administration of IMP, performing EEG, taking and processing samples for pharmacokinetics and biomarker analysis, completion of the ecrf, involved in out-patient follow-up and ancillary projects. A flexible approach to working will be required to accommodate the recruitment and monitoring of research participants in a neonatal intensive care unit.   • (12) months Specific Purpose Whole-time appointment The National Perinatal Epidemiology Centre Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology (NPEC) is now seeking a dynamic candidate for the key position of Senior Research Coordinator (Programme Manager), to advance the development of the NPEC, manage and ensure full implementation of policies and procedures, and engage effectively with our key stakeholders and funders. The Senior Research Coordinator will work closely with the NPEC executive and governance groups to contribute operational expertise in the development and implementation of organisational strategies, policies, practices, projects, delivery of KPIs, reporting and the development of funding proposals. As a member of the Management Team, the Senior Research Coordinator will be expected to contribute to the development and implementation of the NPEC strategy and to contribute to business development.   • 18 Months, Fixed Term, whole-time Post The FirstDrops project is an interdisciplinary, design-led research programme focused on improving antenatal colostrum collection and hand expression practices for expectant parents. It combines participatory design, motion capture technologies, and clinical expertise to develop personalised teaching tools, redesigned collection devices, and improved storage systems. The project aims to enhance confidence, reduce stress, and improve early breastfeeding outcomes for parents and infants. The successful postdoctoral researcher will be based in the School of Applied Psychology and will lead qualitative, participatory, and stakeholder-facing aspects of the project. They will design and run co-design workshops, contribute to analysis and evaluation, and work closely with technical and clinical partners to translate user insights into impactful solutions.
