12 Months, Fixed Term Full-Time Post Position Summary We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to join an exciting project investigating the extrinsic factors that contribute to the vulnerability of the brainstem to diffuse midline glioma (DMG) for up to 2 years. The postdoc will investigate how early-life microbiome perturbations shape brainstem microglial development during the neonatal period and identifying microbiota-dependent signals during critical postnatal windows relevant to diffuse midline glioma (DMG) vulnerability. Applicants must hold a PhD in neuroscience, immunology, cancer biology, bioengineering, or a closely related discipline. Essential experience includes mammalian cell culture and molecular biology techniques such as RNA extraction and quantitative PCR, as well as demonstrated competence in imaging-based assays (e.g. immunocytochemistry and confocal microscopy). Candidates should have prior experience with in vivo mouse work, including tissue dissection, sectioning, and immunohistochemistry, and be comfortable working across in vitro and in vivo systems. Permanent Part Time Post (0.5 FTE) Applications are invited for the above post in the School of Medicine. We seek to appoint an enthusiastic and innovative Lecturer in Radiation Therapy to join the team. The successful candidates will play a key role in teaching, research and leadership. The successful candidates will support the delivery of the 2-year MSc in Radiation Therapy programmes and teach and coordinate elements of the postgraduate MSc in Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy online. The successful candidates will have a BSc or MSc in Radiation Therapy, or other related disciplines and would ideally have a PhD or equivalent. Duties will include research-led clinical and classroom teaching, development of new course offerings, research, research supervision and participation in Discipline, School and College Committees. We expect to recruit people who are hardworking and committed to excellence in teaching, curriculum development, and research dissemination. Permanent Whole Time Post UCC wishes to appoint two experienced academics to the following roles: Senior Lecturer in Education x 1 and Lecturer (above bar) in Education x 1. Of these two posts, one requires expertise in the pedagogy of Physical Education and Sports Studies, the other requires expertise in the pedagogy of one or more of the subjects offered on our initial teacher education programmes. Reporting to the Head of School the appointees will be expected to contribute to teaching, assessment, school placement, and programme development and administration at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. They will be expected to engage in research and scholarly activity relevant to the discipline of Education, and engage in research supervision. Both posts will require teaching across programmes with the Physical Education and Sports Studies post holder making a specific contribution to the BEd Physical Education, Sports Studies and Arts programme. The roles will involve lecturing in all areas of Education (e.g., pedagogy, professional, and foundation areas), school placement tutoring, supporting postgraduate studies, undertaking research, and building and sustaining community links in the education field, while contributing to UCC academic life. Successful candidates will hold a doctorate in Education as well as a specialist post-primary teaching qualification with the potential to be recognised by the Teaching Council of Ireland. They will demonstrate a broad understanding of the Irish education sector and provide evidence of teaching experience in schools. Evidence of research expertise, appropriate to the grade of the posts, in the discipline of education with a social justice orientation, and contribution to the broader field of education would also be requisite for appointment to both posts.
