Job Description
We are offering a Work Placement Experience Programme for participants who are job seekers receiving qualifying social welfare payments or transferring from a social welfare scheme or an ETB Training Allowance. The programme will provide meaningful work experience, learning, and training while in a busy retail environment.
The participant will receive excellent on‑the‑job training and develop work ethics, confidence, and interpersonal skills by engaging with the public.
Responsibilities
Preparing and pricing stock
Merchandising
Serving and assisting customers
Operating and balancing a computerised till system
Induction in health and safety in the workplace
Meet and greet customers and providing advice on inquiries
Stock control
Ensuring the store is tidy at all times
Training and Mentoring
Accredited and/or sector recognised training will be provided. Participants are eligible to participate in the WPEP QQI Work Experience Module, which was developed by the Education & Training Boards in collaboration with the Department of Social Protection, and will fulfil accredited training requirements for the WPEP.
Formal training: till/cash handling/credit card training, merchandising, WPEP QQI work experience module, and any other certified training required.
Informal training: window dressing, time management, customer care, communication skills, teamwork, adaptability, problem solving.
Sector
Wholesale and retail trade; repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles.
