Youll need: Experience as a Mechanical Estimator in mechanical contracting or building services Solid knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, and heating systems Experience in medium to large-scale commercial or residential projects in Ireland Competence with estimating and take-off software (e.g., Ensign, Trimble, or similar) Strong numerical, communication, and organisational skills Ability to work independently and collaboratively Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or Quantity Surveying (or equivalent experience) or a time-served trade background Safe Pass and familiarity with Irish construction standards and regulations What will your role look like? Reporting to the Business Development Manager or Managing Director, you will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for mechanical works. Youll work closely with project managers, engineers, and procurement to ensure tenders are fully costed and submitted on time. Your key responsibilities will include: Performing medium and high voltage jointing and terminations (heat shrink, cold shrink, separable connectors, plug-in terminations) Working with leading brands such as TE/Raychem, NKT, Pfisterer, and Nexans Completing site risk assessments and promoting a strong safety culture Acting as a Competent Person under electrical safety procedures Maintaining tools, equipment, and a well-organised jointing vehicle Supervising and mentoring junior team members Supporting commissioning, testing, and substation operations Ensuring compliance with technical standards, drawings, and method statements Whats next? Are you the right person for the job? Youre an experienced Project Manager with a strong background in high-voltage (HV) and medium-voltage (MV) substation projects, ideally supporting renewable energy developments such as wind, solar, or battery storage. You hold a degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or a related discipline (Level 8 minimum), with at least 1015 years experience in HV/MV infrastructure and 5+ years in project management. Youre confident managing designers, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams, and have a deep understanding of grid codes, connection agreements, and protection schemes. Youre flexible and organised, comfortable with a hybrid working model (office, site, and home), and willing to travel nationally to oversee projects. What will your role look like? Lead the end-to-end delivery of HV/MV substation and grid connection projects from design and planning through to construction, commissioning, and handover. Develop, manage, and track project plans, budgets, and schedules, ensuring compliance with technical, contractual, and safety requirements. Oversee the work of designers, suppliers, and contractors, reviewing and coordinating deliverables to ensure engineering excellence. Liaise with renewable developers, ESB, and key stakeholders to secure approvals, grid connections, and compliance with all regulations. Provide technical leadership on HV/MV substations (up to 38kV), switchgear, transformers, and protection systems. Manage project risks, procurement, and reporting, ensuring that every project is delivered safely, on time, and within budget.
