Working Pattern: Permanent | Full Time | Flexible First options available The role SSE Thermal have an exciting opportunity for a Process Safety Advisor to take a leading role in managing the safety, health, and environmental compliance across our generating stations. This position will be pivotal in ensuring the safe operation of both active and under-construction facilities, while supporting regulatory obligations and internal standards. You will be an integral part of the Management Team, ensuring compliance with legislation and company SHE (Safety, Health & Environmental) requirements. You will - Lead compliance with all health and safety legislative requirements across multiple power generation sites. - Manage and implement SSE's SHE Management System (15 elements), ensuring consistent application and improvement. - Oversee and report on statutory compliance, liaising with regulatory bodies such as the HSA and supporting COMAH/SEVESO requirements. - Conduct and lead audits, risk assessments, and safety investigations, ensuring robust follow-up and documentation. - Support the Environmental Co-ordinator and contribute to emergency response planning, contractor compliance, training needs, and safety performance reporting. You will have - Degree-level qualification (Level 8 or equivalent) in Health & Safety Management or a related discipline or equivalent experience - Experience in a senior Health & Safety role, preferably in industrial or high-risk sectors. Understanding of power generation operations and maintenance is an advantage but not essential. - Strong knowledge of Irish Health & Safety legislation, with auditing qualifications (internal and external) preferred. - Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to translate complex safety standards to diverse teams. - Methodical and analytical mindset with strong organisational, planning, and IT skills. You have - Experience as a Paralegal or Legal Executive with at least 3 years' post qualifying experience in a property role with confidence in dealing with property land rights and leases. Rural/crofting law experience would be advantageous. Dual qualification or exposure to different jurisdictions would be desirable in two or more of the following jurisdictions - England & Wales, Northern Ireland, Republic of Ireland or Scotland. - Skills in producing clear, precise written work and legal documents, with excellent attention to detail. - Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong and collaborative partnerships based on trust. - Flexibility and readiness to adapt to changing priorities. - A good understanding of O365 apps.
