Job Description Fire Engineer
Are you interested in fire engineering? This could be your opportunity to excel as a Fire Engineer, playing a vital role in supporting SOCOTEC's continued success. As SOCOTEC grows, so do our teams. We’re looking for a dedicated Fire Engineer to join our Fire Engineering team and wear the SOCOTEC badge with pride.
We are seeking a proactive, reliable, and flexible Fire Engineer with the confidence to work independently and the ability to collaborate effectively as part of a team. A background in engineering (mechanical, structural, civil or similar field) and knowledge of fire safety issues, relevant legislation, and design guidance such as Approved Document B (ADB), BS 9999, BS 9991, and BS 7974 is essential to thrive in this position.
The tasks you will undertake will include (but are not limited to):
Develop fire safety strategies and associated mark‑ups for various buildings and infrastructure projects
Provide advisory support and carry out site visits during the construction stage
Prepare assessment reports of external wall systems and produce other technical engineering analysis such as CFD modelling, structural fire engineering using programs such as FDS/PyroSim, Pathfinder, SAFIR, B‑Risk
Qualifications To be a successful Fire Engineer, you should be able to demonstrate:
A bachelor's or master’s degree in engineering (mechanical, structural, civil or similar field) and a postgraduate fire engineering qualification (certificate, diploma or master’s)
At least two years’ experience in a similar role and a passion for fire safety
Confident communication skills, good customer service abilities, self‑motivation, ability to prioritise and work on own initiative, and the ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team
