Environmental Manager (EMEA) Responsibilities Manage early environmental due diligence activities across multiple concurrent development efforts, including Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments, noise studies, air permitting, ecological and cultural resource evaluations. The project: The Head of Sustainability shall be accountable to the Client Project Director for leading the sustainability agenda on the programme, working with all of the client’s directorate functions to identify and realise opportunities for the programme to be more sustainable, efficient and innovative. The Head of Sustainability will be responsible for establishing and leading the Sustainability function within the client’s directorate and working cross-functionally and with contractor(s) / consultants to capture market-leading sustainable solutions that are innovative and remain efficient throughout the lifecycle. Ensure corrective actions taken address root causes to prevent recurrence. Input to risk management processes. Liaise with project teams to ensure adequate procedures are established within functions and are implemented. Produce reports, meeting minutes and presentation material as required. Support corporate environmental and sustainability activities and initiatives such as knowledge sharing and volunteering. You’ll need to have: Substantial construction industry experience, including 5+ years experience of embedding sustainability and efficiency into high-value metro- rail projects or projects of similar scale and complexity. Degree educated in a relevant environmental or science subject (Minimum Level 8, or equivalent). Experience in developing, and/or implementing environmental management systems on projects. Associate or higher-level member of IEMA or similar professional body. Expert knowledge of all aspects of construction environmental management & sustainability. Strong technical knowledge and experience in one or more relevant sustainability topics (Waste, carbon/energy, responsible sourcing, water, biodiversity). Be able to translate technical topics into layperson language and articulate the value of sustainability. You’ll also have: Chartered Environmentalist. Previous practical experience in the following sectors would be beneficial: Infrastructure (e.g., rail, highways, aviation, defence, energy, utilities, nuclear).
