  • Senior Engineer

    Overview The Client and overview of the Role: My Client is a c.€100m T/O Main Contractor with a very good name in the Irish Construction industry. They have been trading for 100+ years and are growing their presence in the West of Ireland. This project is a renovation for a 5* Hotel in Co. Clare. It is expected to last 3-4 years with a contract value of c.€50m. I am looking for a Senior Engineer and an Assistant Project Manager. If you are a Senior Engineer or Site Manager looking to move away from Setting-Out and would like to discuss an Asst. PM role, please apply and I will be happy to discuss. The successful Senior Engineer will have full responsibilities for the Engineering side of the project. You will have a Junior Engineer but may be expected to set-out certain parts of the project where required and you will definitely have to supervise/check it anyway. The project will include extensive internal renovations (reception/foyer/rooms/kitchen/hallways/bathrooms etc.), a large extension, roofing/general building improvements and improvements to the hotel grounds. We are open to receiving applications from experienced Senior Site Engineers/Senior Engineers/Senior Co-Ordination Engineers with previous experience on Commercial or Apartment projects in Ireland, or the UK. You will need to possess good people skills and want to stay with a company long-term and progress over time. Responsibilities Oversee all Engineering aspects of a construction project. Ensure it is delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. Manage and coordinate other Engineers, Design Teams and resolve technical challenges. Ensure compliance with construction plans and safety regulations. Work closely with on-site and off-site management teams to set-out the project. Check plans and drawings to ensure all calculations are accurate. Check shuttering, steel and other dimensions prior to concrete pours. Liaise with subcontractors, clients and internal teams to ensure that programme targets are met/exceeded where possible. Order materials, plant and maintain reconciliation files. Develop solutions to problems where necessary. Oversee quality control, BCAR and health and safety on site. Maintain materials reconciliation files. Requirements Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline. 5+ years’ experience as an Engineer/Senior Engineer with a Main Contractor or Residential Developer. Experience using setting-out equipment (e.g., total station, GPS and laser levels). Knowledge of temporary works coordination. Strong attention to detail and able to work on own initiative. What’s on offer? Basic salary of at least €75,000. If you’re really good, the Client will pay above this but you’ll need to demonstrate why they should. Vehicle + fuel card/Allowance if you’d prefer.     The Client and overview of the opportunity: My Client are an established c.€100M+ turnover Main Contractor. They have a good name in the market and over 80 years of continuous trading. This business are hiring for the future and are keen to bring people in who would like to progress over time. This is their first project in Connacht but they are actively tendering for more works and expect to win more commercial or heritage projects in the West and Mid-West over the coming months. This Contract was awarded on the last working day of 2025 and they got to site in the back end of January. The overall is expected to last 3-4 years. We are searching for an experience Senior Site Manager/Assistant Project Manager to manage a complex €50M Contract for a 5* Hotel Renovation project. You'll be reporting in to a Project Manager/Contract Manager and will be the most senior person on-site. As this is an established, close-knit team, we're also looking for someone who enjoys being part of a team, takes pride in what they do and seeing others do well. Key Responsibilities: Work closely with Contracts Manager and Contracts Director to ensure smooth-running project which makes money for the Company. Manage on-site Construction Activities, ensuring Project Milestones are met. Supervise and Co-Ordinate Subcontractors, Suppliers, and Trades. Manage EHS as per Company and Industry standards. Ensure Quality Control and adherence to Project Specifications. Manage site records, progress reports, and day-to-day problem-solving Monitor project costs and ensure resources are used efficiently. Requirements: Like to do this properly; to high standards and safely. Decent communicator - inflated ego's won't go fit this team but you will have to be confident enough to make key decisions and a strong enough character to influence people to get the job done! Degree qualified in Construction Management or having a trade background + previous Site Management experience. 7+ years of Construction experience as a Site Manager/Senior Engineer/PM or Assistant PM. Strong knowledge of Construction Practices, Regulations, and Safety Standards. Excellent leadership and communication skills. Ability to manage multiple trades and maintain project schedules.
