  • Santa Sabina House is a residential care home under the auspices of the Congregation of Dominican Sisters, Cabra, Dublin 7. Santa Sabina house is committed to providing first class standards of care to older people in a warm and homely environment. We are delighted to announce that we are currently recruiting for a Full time Activity Co-ordinator. The Activity Co-ordinator assesses, plans, implements and evaluates programs for residents activities which are multi-faceted, meet the residents functional needs, and reflect interests of each resident. MAJOR TASKS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Participates in the planning and scheduling of individual and/or group activities based on the residents needs. Participates in residents activities designed to promote social interaction, reality orientation and intellectual stimulation. Provides residents who are confined or choose to remain in their rooms with in-room activities in keeping with life-long interests (music, reading, etc.) and in-room projects they can work on individually. Completes the activity assessment and assists the nurses in developing the care plan following the gathering of information to reflect the individual residents functional level, problems, needs and interests. Document activity related information on the residents charts. Maintains sufficient activity supplies. Follows monthly calendar of planned activities. Develops and maintains a pleasant and pleasing environment in the Activities Room. Participates in continuous quality improvement. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Ability to operate audio-visual equipment. Good knowledge of the policies and procedures of a long-term care facility. Ability to work independently; to prioritise tasks and organise work efficiently. Ability to motivate people and be sensitive to their needs. Ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with residents and staff. Skill in providing support in the planning, coordinating and implementation of an activities program to meet the diverse needs of Nursing Home residents. Understanding and awareness of problems of the aging. Respect for resident rights and confidentiality. Education and Experience: Previous activity experience would be an advantage, preferably in skilled-care nursing home environment. Full driving license is an advantage. Roster: Predominantly Monday to Friday 7/8 hour days, and occasional shifts outside of Monday to Friday to cover weekend events.
