    Overview Payroll Operations & Process Improvement: to support a portfolio of payroll, finance operations, and system-enhancement initiatives. The role sits at the intersection of payroll operations, controls, documentation, and project delivery, ensuring processes are accurate, compliant, and continuously improving. Work closely with Payroll SMEs, Finance Operations, HR, Vendor Partners, to stabilise core payroll processes, document workflows, improve controls, and drive operational excellence across the employee lifecycle. Operational Controls & Compliance Strengthen internal controls across payroll, HR data, and finance processes Support access reviews, segregation of duties checks, and audit evidence preparation Identify risk areas in the payroll cycle and support mitigation plans Ensure all payroll processes meet compliance, statutory, and audit requirements Payroll Operations Support end-to-end payroll processes, including: Payroll inputs & data preparation Validation, reconciliation, and exception handling Payroll calculation support Payment release coordination Act as a key point of continuity for payroll knowledge when team members rotate, go on leave, or transition Partner closely with payroll vendors and internal teams to address errors, delays, or data-quality issues Process Documentation & Standardisation Own the creation of: Payroll SOPs, End-to-end process maps, Training materials, Onboarding documentation, Controls documentation Standardise payroll handoffs across HR, Payroll, Finance Ops, and vendor partners Build clear, structured documentation to minimise errors and increase operational maturity Project Delivery & Workflow Improvement Support payroll-related projects such as: System updates & access changes Workflow redesign AI-enabled automation opportunities Assist with requirements gathering, documentation, UAT, change rollout, and process transition to BAU Identify inefficiencies in current payroll workflows and drive improvement initiatives. Cross-Functional Collaboration Partner with HR, Payroll, Finance Operations, Legal, and Systems teams to ensure seamless payroll processes Work with Kate and others to prioritise backlogs and coordinate delivery phases Support communication and training to ensure downstream teams follow new processes correctly. Systems, Reporting & Data Support Support payroll system controls, access management, permissions, and updates Assist in preparing data for reporting, reconciliation, and leadership updates Provide structured documentation and insights to support audits, quality checks, and process monitoring Key Projects This Role Will Support You will play a major role in: Identifying root causes of errors and delays Supporting stabilisation efforts and documenting new ways of working Ensuring accurate payroll processing across multiple regions. Aligning payroll outputs with finance payment processes Documenting and improving payroll-to-payments handoffs Strengthening reconciliation and exception-handling workflows Smart Employee Journey Process Improvements Mapping and improving touchpoints between HR → Payroll → Finance Fixing upstream data-quality issues that impact payroll accuracy Aligning employee lifecycle processes with system behaviours Systems Uplift, Access & Controls Workstream Supporting system upgrades or configuration changes impacting payroll. Producing updated controls documentation, access lists, and workflow diagrams. Ensuring correct permissions and roles are maintained.
