  • Software Engineer  

    - Waterford

    Location: Hybrid with offices in Tramore, Waterford Type: Full-time Reports to: Co-founders The Role This is a hands-on, full-stack position with a strong product focus. You’ll be leading the development of our mobile app and backend platform—owning everything from how users log in and track their health to how the app communicates with our smart dispenser. You’ll be our first software hire, so you’ll have a lot of freedom—and a lot of responsibility. But if you like being close to the product, owning your work, and building something from 0 to 1, you’ll feel right at home. What You’ll Do Build and scale the mobile app that powers our personalised nutrition system. Create a clean, reliable backend platform that connects users, devices, and data. Develop API integrations with the hardware and external services (e.g. health trackers like Apple Health or Fitbit). Collaborate with design, product, and hardware teams to create a seamless experience across software and physical devices. Own architecture decisions and help define our long-term tech stack. Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code across front-end and back-end. Set up CI/CD pipelines, data storage, user auth, and system monitoring from scratch (with help where needed). Contribute to product direction and help shape the future of the team. What You Bring Must-Haves: 5+ years of full-stack experience, ideally with strong front-end skills and a product mindset. Experience building mobile apps in React Native or Flutter. Strong back-end skills in Node.js, Python, or similar, plus comfort with cloud Experience designing and integrating RESTful APIs. Great product sense—you think about users, not just features. Startup-ready: comfortable with ambiguity, fast iterations, and lots of ownership. Bonus Points For: Experience integrating wearables or health data APIs (Apple Health, Fitbit, Garmin, etc). Previous work with IoT or connected hardware (e.g., smart home, health devices). Understanding of Bluetooth / BLE protocols. Experience working on wellness, medtech, or consumer health products. Previous early-stage or founding team experience. We’re a healthtech startup with big ideas and bold ambition, and now we’re looking for a talented Hardware Engineer to help bring our smart dispensing system to life. Role Overview As the Hardware Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, prototyping, testing, and manufacturing of our intelligent supplement-dispensing system. You’ll manage the technical development of both in-house components and those sourced from external partners. This role is central to ensuring we deliver a reliable, high-quality consumer device that seamlessly integrates with our software and user experience. Key Responsibilities Lead the end-to-end hardware development lifecycle for the dispensing system – from concept and CAD design through to production. Design and engineer fluid dispensing mechanisms, including pumps, valves, and flow control systems. Select and qualify components (electromechanical, fluidic, structural) for performance, reliability, and cost-effectiveness. Coordinate with industrial designers, electronics engineers, and software teams to ensure seamless integration across systems. Manage relationships with external suppliers, contract manufacturers, and prototyping partners. Build and test prototypes for functional performance, user experience, and compliance. Establish manufacturing processes, quality standards, and assembly procedures. Documenting your work in a way that even your future self will thank you for. Requirements & Qualifications Practical experience in hardware product development, ideally in consumer electronics or fluidics-based systems (e.g., beverage machines, medical devices, or lab instrumentation). Strong proficiency in 3D CAD (e.g., SolidWorks, Fusion 360, or similar). Experience in rapid prototyping, DFM (Design for Manufacturing), and material selection. Understanding of fluid dynamics, pumping systems, and microfluidic or dosing systems. Familiarity with PCB integration, embedded systems, and electromechanical design. Track record of managing external suppliers and manufacturing partners. Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a bias for action. Nice to Have Experience working on beverage dispensing systems, water purification systems, or nutraceutical delivery devices. Experience with FDA- or CE-regulated hardware environments. Knowledge of IoT-enabled devices or BLE integration. Familiarity with UX/UI collaboration in physical products. What’s in It for You?
