The successful candidate will be responsible for the overall clinical, operational, and regulatory management of the 16 bed respite service, ensuring high standards of person-centred care in line with HIQA requirements and national care standards. You will oversee staff leadership, governance, safeguarding, budget management, quality assurance, and community engagement across a dispersed rural catchment area which covers North Kerry, West Limerick and North Cork. This is a permanent position, based on site in County Limerick. Responsibilities Provide strategic and operational leadership for the respite centre, ensuring delivery of safe, high-quality, person-centred care to older persons. Ensure full compliance with medical standards, relevant legislation, and Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI) regulatory requirements. Oversee clinical governance systems, including risk management, safeguarding, infection prevention and control, and medication management. Manage recruitment, supervision, performance appraisal, and ongoing professional development of multidisciplinary staff. Maintain safe staffing levels and skill mix appropriate to the assessed dependency needs of residents. Lead quality assurance initiatives, audits, and continuous service improvement programmes. Manage the centre’s budget, resources, and financial controls in line with organisational policies. Develop and maintain effective communication with residents, families, GPs, allied health professionals, and community stakeholders. Ensure accurate documentation, incident reporting, and timely submission of statutory notifications. Promote a culture of dignity, respect, accountability, and continuous improvement across the service. Qualifications Registered General Nurse (RGN) with active registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI). Minimum 5 years’ post-registration experience in elderly care, ideally with leadership or supervisory role experience.
