  • Senior Structural Engineer

    PUNCH Consulting Engineers have a vacancy for a Senior Structural Engineer to work with our team in our Dublin office on a range of major projects. At PUNCH we enable our engineers to achieve their maximum potential through professional skills development, direct mentoring, and a pipeline of interesting and challenging projects across all major industry divisions. Based in Dun Laoghaire, our Dublin office consists of a team of over 30 dedicated technical staff delivering civil, structural, infrastructure and transportation design services. Our team are currently delivering several €200m+ mixed used developments including Crown Square in Galway, Project Opera in Limerick and North Quay in Waterford, in addition to the new Anglesea Stand at the RDS Ballsbridge, a major new private hospital in Limerick and a new Europort facility in Rosslare. Joining our team will afford you the opportunity to be a part of a large team on major projects and take more direct responsibility for some of the medium scale (€5m – €30m) currently ongoing in our office. Job Description As a Senior Structural Engineer, you will be working on the delivery of major structural projects. You will be responsible for the technical, managerial and commercial aspects of your project. Your work will be carried out in accordance with the company ISO procedures. Candidate Specification Honours degree in Civil/Structural Engineering. Minimum of 5 years postgraduate experience in engineering consultancy. Chartered Status with Engineers Ireland or close to applying for chartership. A sound understanding of engineering principles and a strong technical focus, ability to apply engineering principles and codes of practice to solve technical problems. Excellent conceptual design abilities to provide robust and economical solutions in concrete, steel, timber, masonry etc. Significant base of IT skills including; Structural design software such as Tekla Structural Designer, SCIA, TEDDS suite, CADS suite, STRAP, etc. REVIT + AutoCAD skills. Word, Excel, Power Point, MS Project The ability to source and use new design software to benefit project work. Independent judgement in the application of engineering science and knowledge including complex design, construction and management. Leadership skills to plan, manage and direct human, material and financial resources required to solve complex problems in multi-disciplinary teams. High level of commercial understanding and application. Understanding of the Irish regulatory and policy issues. Implement full Project Delivery Process including GCC Contracts. A successful track record working closely in partnership with clients and contractors and other members of design teams. Strong communication skills both oral and written. A positive, proactive approach with an ability to adapt to changing scenarios. Business Effectiveness – lead by example. Commitment to CPD and competence. PUNCH Consulting Engineers have a vacancy for a structural BIM Technician at our Dublin (Dun Laoghaire) and Cork offices. Job Description The work will be primarily office based with some site inspection duties. Under the supervision of more senior technicians and engineers you will assist in the preparation of high-quality engineering BIM models and design drawings for a broad range of national and international structural engineering projects. You will assist in the preparation of planning, tender and construction documents. All work will be carried out in accordance with the company ISO procedures. Candidate Specification A Higher Certificate (NFQ Level 6) in Civil Engineering or equivalent. An excellent working knowledge of REVIT, together with a good working knowledge of AutoCAD and CADS-RC. Significant experience in working on BIM projects in accordance with PAS 1192-2:2016, BS 1192:2007 and BS 1192-4:2014 standards. Applicants must have a minimum 5 years post-graduate experience in a design office assisting in the preparation of drawings for outline and detailed designs for structural engineering projects. Draughting experience on building projects using concrete, steel, timber and masonry. A thorough understanding of construction materials and construction methodology. Civils experience of drainage, water, roads etc. an advantage. Site experience gained in the inspection of on-site works. A proactive approach to solving problems with an ability to adapt to changing scenarios Excellent communication skills. Proven commitment to CPD.
