Job Description
The Commodity Lead is part of a service-oriented, Shared Services team that creates sustainable competitive advantage for ProAmpac and its customers. In this role, the incumbent will work collaboratively with stakeholders to consistently develop socially responsible, cost effective and innovative supply management solutions that are aligned to our customers’ changing needs. The role involves leading and implementing the sourcing/procurement of one or several major commodity spends (e.g., Resins, Films and other assigned commodities) to achieve improvements in total cost of ownership, working capital and business financial goals. The incumbent will use a structured strategic sourcing process to drive supplier discovery, selection, development and relationship management across cross‑functional teams.
Responsibilities
Commitment, awareness and involvement in ISO and food safety practices.
Develop, document and communicate commodity sourcing strategies aligned to the organization’s business objectives.
Execute the Strategic Sourcing Process and ensure consistent application across all key assigned commodities.
Develop and execute plans based on key sourcing levers (Global Sourcing, Best Price Evaluation, Volume Aggregation, Value Engineering/Value Analysis) to deliver improvements in Total Cost of Ownership or Total Landed Cost.
Negotiate supply contracts to meet business needs, including terms, pricing, volume agreements, inventory management strategies, benchmarks, performance metrics and annual cost reductions.
Work with cross‑functional teams to develop and manage supplier relationships for quality, service, innovation and cost value; monitor and manage supplier performance.
Champion risk analysis, assessment and mitigation plans to minimize service disruptions and protect supply capacity.
Collaborate with Product Development, Sales, Quality and Manufacturing to source new raw materials and suppliers for growth initiatives.
Provide timely forecast for key commodities and market outlook; track variations from annual forecast.
Liaise with Global Sourcing Team Leads for opportunities for Global‑scale procurement.
Present benefits and opportunities to Procurement Leadership and secure approval for new contracts.
Work with Finance Optimization Team to present savings achieved and monitor savings tracked.
Secure NDAs where appropriate and ensure protection of ProAmpac sensitive data.
Coordinate with Legal Department over contractual terms and work with Procurement Director for beneficial terms.
Proactively establish and implement countermeasures to address negative market trends and missed performance objectives.
Collaborate with Quality Department and suppliers to improve product performance.
Facilitate processes and procedures that support organizational goals.
Demonstrate appropriate attitude in dealings with coworkers, customers and suppliers.
Adopt a long‑term perspective on sourcing/procurement built on strategic partnerships from a global viewpoint.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
University bachelor’s degree preferred (BA) or alternative university partnership programs.
3 – 5 years of demonstrated knowledge and experience in sourcing a major commodity group or procurement role.
Experience with Purchasing Order Systems (e.g., Ariba, SAP, Oracle).
C.P.M. (Certified Purchasing Manager) certification or equivalent preferred.
Ability to travel 15 – 25 % of the time nationally or internationally as required.
