The Role In this exciting role you will work on your own and as part of a multi-skilled team of Marine Operatives and assist with day-to-day marine & land side operations at the Port of Cork Company. You will work across locations with different groups all of whom will depend on you to assist them to get the job done. i.e., Pilots, Tug, Launch crew, Port Operations and other stakeholders etc. The person Were looking for enthusiastic, motivated team workers with a proven ability to work in and actively promote a healthy & safe working environment. Youll be comfortable with multi- tasking and balancing priorities in line with your instructions and you will already have transferrable experience, preferably from a similar environment. Youll have boat handling experience. The duties are varied and may include: operation of our marine craft, work vessels and driving port vehicles coxswain & deckhand duties positioning of ships on berth simple maintenance of our marine craft responding to marine emergency/pollution incidents Operating communications equipment Port Operations/VTS Manning Supporting Marine Operations within the jurisdictions of the Port of Cork Company The experience you will have experience working in a marine environment excellent people skills IT skills excellent written and oral communication Some of the following qualifications while not essential would be a distinct advantage - full training will be provided to the right candidates: Able seafarer qualification or other formal marine qualification OOW qualification or other STCW Certificate of Competency P5 Licence STCW / PST / MSO / First Aid / ENG11 / Fire Prevention / Basic Sea Survival / Fire Marshall / Manual Handling VTS operators certificate Tug Handling / Pilot boat or similar experience A full class B clean driving licence This is an exciting opportunity to start work in the Port and develop your career where in return we will offer you a generous remuneration package.
