Overview PFH Technology Group is seeking to hire an IT Field Engineer to support customer and client sites located in or near Sligo. This role is a 12 month fixed term contract, requiring travel to various locations around Sligo on a daily basis. As such, a full clean manual Irish driver’s license is a requirement. Role Overview As an IT Field Engineer you will be responsible for supporting customer’s IT infrastructure and resolving technical issues to ensure business continuity for our customer base. Responsibilities Prioritise, manage and respond to helpdesk calls logged on the help desk system, including travel to sites to support users. Establish and build good working relationships with customers. Troubleshoot and, if required, refer hardware faults to third parties. System administration using Active Directory. Troubleshoot hardware/software issues. Install and configure computer hardware and peripherals, operating systems and applications. Set up new shared folders on existing shares. Liaise with third party vendors for software/hardware installation. Data transfers/migration. Deal with ‘how to’ and information requests including data security and ICT policies. Document new solutions. Manage print devices – liaise with vendors including IP information. Access consoles to push or provide solutions for requests e.g. Content encryption. Follow and adhere to SD processes, procedures and escalation process. Create and update records and databases with personnel, financial and other data. Submit timely reports and prepare presentations/proposals as assigned. Assist colleagues as requested. Experience & Qualifications Experience in an IT hardware environment with particular experience in Windows & 10, Windows 11 installations. Demonstrate good problem solving, analytical and decision‑making skills. Excellent customer service skills with an ability to empathise with users and help them adapt to new technologies. User experience is key for this role. Excellent communication skills. Excellent working knowledge of the full Microsoft Office suite and report writing. Demonstrated evidence of production of quality deliverables. Third‑level IT qualification is desirable. Microsoft Certifications are advantageous. Ability to work collaboratively across multiple teams and phases of project delivery. Experience with IT governance and security policies desirable.
