What you will be doing? Use surveying equipment such as total stations, GPS, and laser levels to establish accurate points, lines, and levels onsite. Interpret and analyse construction drawings, plans, and specifications to ensure accurate setting out of construction elements. Mark out reference points and guide construction teams to follow accurate dimensions. Monitor and inspect the quality of work, ensuring it meets project requirements and industry standards. Our client is hiring for a Senior Quantity Surveyor Cost Specialist. The position will sit within the Networks & Civil, Environmental Engineering Department (NCEE) within Engineering and Major Projects which provides a range of planning, design, construction, operation & maintenance, and management services required for electricity industry infrastructure projects in Ireland. The role will encompass all aspects of quantity surveying including cost, contract and commercial risk management for our full range of civil engineering projects related to Networks infrastructure development. The role will encompass close liaison with other design professionals, their partners and contractors - increasing visibility of the Quantity Surveying function across the company, while maintaining standards, developing staff and enhancing stakeholder management are key requirement for this role. Key Responsibilities - Provide knowledge and expert advice to internal and external stakeholders on commercial matters and risk identification on projects delivered by both traditional re-measurable contracts and other contracting models such as D&B and EPC. - Provide strong leadership skills in the development of commercial management capability, through integration of commercial lessons learned, mentoring of junior staff and enhanced collaboration. - Drive a culture of continuous improvement on commercial contract issues and cost management through developing/updating procedures and knowledge transfer to colleagues. - Deliver full range of commercial management services for the project lifecycle, to our Networks business on projects of strategic importance. - Be accountable for the delivery of the commercial tender enquiry documentation including use of ARM 5 for BOQ preparation, and subsequent commercial assessment and critical evaluation of tenders, including collaborating with the various procurement functions across the company, for large scale projects. - Be accountable for cost monitoring of the civil works and/or other elements on projects/contracts throughout the project lifecycle and advise on the cost accrual v Capex Approval. - Provide strong negotiating skills, to facilitate determination of complex commercial matters or disputes, for contract awards, claim assessments and final account agreements, which deliver value for our Stakeholders. Experience and Qualifications Essential - Minimum of five years post-graduate experience. - Strong knowledge of the administration of the main conditions of contract including the FIDIC Conditions of Contract. - Detailed knowledge in Cost estimating, Tendering, Post Tender evaluation and assessment, and Pre-contract negotiation. - Detailed knowledge in Cost Control reporting and management. - A flexible approach to work, especially where necessary to deliver excellent Stakeholder Management service. - Self-motivation and ability to project-manage own work and coordinate with those working alongside. - Ability to work and share knowledge and competencies to develop junior staff. - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. - Full drivers licence valid for use in Republic of Ireland and have own car Desirable - Experience in the use of Cubit software would be advantageous. - Experience in Civil Engineering / Utility project contracts in excess of €10m in contract value would be advantageous. - Chartered status in a recognised professional institution. - Recent Experience in managing a Commercial team. Civil Engineer Co. Tipperary Role Information Our client is looking to hire a Civil Engineer to join their team to work in the HV, Energy and Renewable Sector. They have offices in Ireland, UK, Denmark, Sweden, and Germany. They deliver leading edge next generation solutions to clients by designing, building, and installing Data Centres, Pharma and Medical Device plants and Renewable Energy Systems. The Civil Engineer will be responsible for the management, coordination and support of all the civil & electrical elements from both tender and delivery processes through to completion of works with an emphasis on safety, civil design and quality checking to service the electrical requirements. The successful Civil Engineer will interface and work with the project team on delivery, engage with the Clients representatives and processes, co-ordinate with the civil sub-contractor project management team on site from mobilisation through to handover and, in conjunction with the QS, the commercial management of the civil subcontractor. What you will be doing? Review tender documents and electrical requirements as defined by electrical engineers and put together an energy & utilities tender package for potential sub-contractors. Review of tender responses from a technical viewpoint in order to assist the commercial department in selecting a preferred subcontractor. Liaise with electrical designers and civil designers to ensure civil designs meet requirements. Manage and take ownership of interface with Client and Client processes in respect to civil design and works. Review and quality control of the design prior to them being issued to the Client. Manage the Engineering input to the Client and / or Utility design review process with respect to civil designs. Work with both the project PM and QS to prepare subcontract packages. In conjunction with the project PM, project manage the civil subcontractor. Liaise with the electrical design team & electrical construction team to ensure correctness of civil installation & of successful handover to electrical construction and to the end Client. Work closely with the project PM to ensure that all variations are captured and notified to the project QS in a timely manner. Liaise with the civil subcontractor as required on variations and associated design / re-design works. Ensure that the Clients management systems are complied with as set out in the contract documentation. Management of civil sub consultants and contractors. Manage projects and delivery them to quality, safely and on time. Manage, assess and develop teams and assigned individuals. Is this the job for me?
