  • Electrical Instructor

    Position Description The Electrical Instructor is responsible for the provision of a variety of training, development, and assurance services to the Generation business. This includes the delivery of specialist training in Plant Operations & Generation Station Electrical Practices. With in-depth knowledge of electrical processes and procedures, the Electrical Instructor will deliver electrical switching operations, electrical machinery plant courses, and provide innovative solutions to develop and maintain staff technical competence in line with industry best practice, ISO requirements, Power Generation Technical Standards, and Standard Operating Procedures. Key Responsibilities Deliver technical & electrical training courses to Generation personnel and embed Power Generation Technical Standards/Guidelines. Interpret complex electrical, operations, functional descriptions, P&IDs, SLDs, and electrical drawings and deliver technical training courses to generation staff that recommend solutions/best practice. Evaluate and modernise existing training courses and material. Use knowledge and experience from previous operations/maintenance roles to provide expert advice and support to the Generation Technical Capability Delivery team on training and competence assurance in fields of expertise. Liaise with internal departments to develop and maintain knowledge of products and gather content, keeping up to date on new developments. Use expert knowledge and experience to deliver training to operations/maintenance teams ensuring learning outcomes, aims, and objectives of courses are achieved and lessons from past incidents are reinforced. Develop and influence policies and procedures. Provide expert input for projects in relation to generation operations and/or maintenance technical issues. Explore and suggest suitable tools, equipment, and packages to deliver training. Ensure quality, environmental, and Health & Safety standards are always maintained. Become familiar and competent with using SuccessFactors, our Learning Management System. The successful candidate will be required to complete a self-driven tailored technical development program that involves obtaining relevant asset-based experience on the operation and fundamentals of plant in the various stations, which will support and position the candidate to deliver training to others. Qualifications Essential A recognised third level relevant engineering qualification or apprenticeship in an electrical/instrumentation discipline combined with suitable industry experience, or previous instructor/lecturing experience in a similar role. A Full Category B driving licence. 5+ years relevant work experience. Relevant or practical experience of troubleshooting, lecturing, maintenance, or repair of electrical machinery or associated systems. Relevant experience in High Voltage & Low Voltage power systems or electrical machinery. Good presentation skills and ability to impart technical knowledge to new and experienced personnel. Effective communicator with excellent organisational and communication skills, verbal and written. Proficient IT skills, with a good working knowledge of MS Office suite, including PowerPoint. A willingness to self-learn and improve. Desirable Experience in a training function or heavy process industry or similar industry. Installation/commissioning, maintenance, or operations experience in some of the following: High Voltage & Low Voltage distribution systems, generators, motors or electrical machines and systems, PLCs, control and automation systems, electrical protection systems, earthing systems, electrical testing, and isolation procedures. Proven track record for designing, deploying, and managing training initiatives. Good working knowledge of health & safety legislation and isolation procedures. Location The position is open to nationwide applicants. The location is flexible; however, the successful candidate must reside in Ireland. This role will involve occasional travel to generation locations to familiarise themselves with plant technical apparatus relevant to the areas of training and to deliver training when necessary or to central locations combining training delivery for several locations.   • Senior Civil Engineer  

    - Tipperary

    Description Our client is looking to hire a Senior Civil Engineer to join their team to work in the HV, Energy and Renewable Sector. The position will be based on an Energy, Power & Renewables project in Co Tipperary. They have offices in Ireland, UK, Denmark, Sweden, and Germany. They deliver leading edge next generation solutions to clients by designing, building, and installing Data Centres, Pharma and Medical Device plants and Renewable Energy Systems. The Senior Civil Engineer will be responsible for the management, coordination and support of all the civil & electrical elements from both tender and delivery processes through to completion of works with an emphasis on safety, civil design and quality checking to service the electrical requirements. The successful Senior Civil Engineer will interface and work with the project team on delivery, engage with the Clients representatives and processes, co-ordinate with the civil sub-contractor project management team on site from mobilisation through to handover and, in conjunction with the QS, the commercial management of the civil subcontractor. What you will be doing? Review tender documents and electrical requirements as defined by electrical engineers and put together an energy & utilities tender package for potential sub-contractors. Review of tender responses from a technical viewpoint in order to assist the commercial department in selecting a preferred subcontractor. Liaise with electrical designers and civil designers to ensure civil designs meet requirements. Manage and take ownership of interface with Client and Client processes in respect to civil design and works. Review and quality control of the design prior to them being issued to the Client. Manage the Suir Engineering input to the Client and / or Utility design review process with respect to civil designs. Work with both the project PM and QS to prepare subcontract packages. In conjunction with the project PM, project manage the civil subcontractor. Liaise with the electrical design team & electrical construction team to ensure correctness of civil installation & of successful handover to electrical construction and to the end Client. Work closely with the project PM to ensure that all variations are captured and notified to the project QS in a timely manner. Liaise with the civil subcontractor as required on variations and associated design / re-design works. Ensure that the Clients management systems are complied with as set out in the contract documentation. Management of civil sub consultants and contractors. Manage projects and delivery them to quality, safely and on time. Manage, assess and develop teams and assigned individuals. Is this the job for me? This position plays a key role in advancing wind, solar, battery storage, and grid infrastructure projects that support long-term strategic objectives. Key Duties and Responsibilities Lead large-scale renewable energy infrastructure projects through all phases of development, including planning, commercialisation, construction, commissioning, and operation. Coordinate across functional teams in a matrix structure, leveraging PMO guidance, technical specialists, and operational stakeholders to achieve project objectives. Ensure alignment with strategic goals, governance frameworks, and portfolio priorities. Work with internal functional leads and PMO operations to procure construction contracts, negotiate long-term offtake agreements, and support project financing activities. Monitor budgets, forecasts, and cost controls across the project lifecycle, ensuring financial viability and value for money. Support PMO functions in delivering accurate portfolio-level financial reporting and compliance. Ensure adherence to regulatory, environmental, and grid compliance requirements, proactively identifying and mitigating risks. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the following qualifications, skills, and experience: A third-level degree in Engineering, Business, Project Management, or a related discipline (a Masters degree is advantageous). A minimum of 5 years experience delivering large-scale energy or infrastructure projects. Professional project management certification (e.g. PMP or equivalent) is desirable. Strong commercial acumen with experience in budget management, procurement, contract administration, and resource optimisation.
