  • Maintenance Technician  

    - Rathowen

    Role Purpose (Summary) Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Technician is responsible for electrical and mechanical problem‑solving, plant reliability support, and technical expertise for site facilities and utilities (including compressed air, refrigeration and steam). The role supports Production in achieving targets by ensuring equipment operates safely, efficiently, and in compliance with regulatory and company standards. Key Responsibilities Conduct routine inspections and monitoring of plant and equipment to ensure optimal performance. Perform calibration and testing of equipment, alarms and instrumentation in line with CMMS schedules and vendor requirements. Complete planned mechanical and electrical maintenance tasks and record all work accurately within CMMS. Respond promptly to plant and equipment failures, carrying out repairs or replacements as required. Manage required spare parts to maintain reliability and minimise downtime. Own and apply the site permit‑to‑work systems (general permits, LOTO, hot works, etc.). Use remote monitoring tools such as BMS to verify plant performance. Participate in planned shutdowns, coordinating work with management. Liaise with subcontractors to ensure timely, safe and effective completion of maintenance activities. Work collaboratively with Production, Engineering, Technical and EHS teams to troubleshoot and resolve issues. Contribute improvement ideas to enhance plant reliability and operational efficiency. Demonstrate compliance‑focused behaviour and foster a culture of safety, quality and continuous improvement. Diagnose and resolve mechanical, process and electrical issues using sound engineering principles. Support a high‑volume manufacturing environment requiring fast problem‑solving and prioritisation. Assist with general plant, services and WWTP maintenance. Balance routine PM work with reactive maintenance in a dynamic production setting. Skills / Preparation Requirements Mechanical qualification required. Qualification in instrumentation an advantage. Multi‑skilled or cross‑skilled capability desirable. HACCP, Manual Handling and other relevant compliance training beneficial. Experience in facilities or maintenance engineering within a manufacturing environment (advantageous). Ability to read electrical and hydraulic/pneumatic drawings. Experience supporting technically challenging applications. Strong capability in diagnosing and troubleshooting issues in a fast‑paced environment. Experience interacting with suppliers, internal customers and external contractors. Results driven with a continuous improvement mindset. Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills. Compliance focused with strong attention to detail. Effective communication skills (internal, cross‑functional and external). Computer competency and familiarity with CMMS. Team player with initiative and ownership. Working Conditions Frequent presence required in production and utility areas. Work may occur in chilled or refrigerated environments‑appropriate PPE required. Interaction with contractors and cross‑functional teams is routine. Participation in an on‑call roster and response to out‑of‑hours breakdowns may be required.
