Role Overview
As a Junior Designer at Nua MMC, you will support the design team in producing accurate and efficient design outputs for Timber Frame and Light Gauge Steel (LGS) systems. You will assist in preparing drawings, coordinating with internal teams, and learning industry standards and software tools. This is a developmental role ideal for someone early in their design career, with opportunities to grow technical and collaborative skills in a modern methods of construction (MMC) environment.
Key Responsibilities And Duties
Timber Frame Design Support
Assist in preparing base plans and approval drawings using architect's and engineer's specifications
Help generate cutting sheets and machinery files for production
Support the preparation of delivery documentation and material lists
Maintain organized records of project progress and design revisions
Light Gauge Steel Design Support
Learn to use LGS design software (e.g., Vertex) to assist in creating panelised system models
Support the export of CAM files for manufacturing
Collaborate with senior designers to interpret structural specifications and integrate them into LGS designs
Participate in quality checks to ensure compliance with ISO standards
General Duties
Liaise with architects, engineers, and internal teams to clarify design requirements
Prepare cutting sheets and machinery files for operations in conjunction with architect's drawings, engineer's specification and available stock
Advise operations of non‑standard items required
Prepare loading/delivery dockets for site delivery
Contribute to team meetings and design reviews
Maintain a professional and proactive approach in all communications
Perform other duties as assigned to support the design team
Requirements
MS Office: Must have an excellent knowledge of Excel, Word and PowerPoint
Technical Drawing Interpretation: Ability to read and understand architectural plans, sections, and details
Design Software Proficiency: Familiarity with AutoCAD, Revit, or Vertex; willingness to learn new tools
Communication: Clear and professional communication with team members and external stakeholders
Attention to Detail: Careful review of drawings and specifications to ensure accuracy
Time Management: Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment
Team Collaboration: Willingness to support and learn from senior designers and contribute to team goals
Problem Solving: Basic analytical skills to identify practical design solutions
Adaptability: Openness to feedback and flexibility in handling changing project requirements
Qualifications
Required: Diploma or Bachelor's degree (Level 7 NFQ or higher) in Architectural Technology, Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field
Desirable: Exposure to MMC or LGS design during studies or internships
Certifications: Training or coursework in AutoCAD, Revit, or Vertex is a plus
