Senior Executive Engineer – Carlow County Council
Carlow County Council provides services to a population of over 62,000 citizens in the areas of housing, integration, regeneration, roads, transportation, planning, environment, libraries, economic and community development, tourism, fire and emergency response, parks, amenities, heritage, arts, and water services.
At a strategic level, the Council operates through its Corporate Policy Group comprising the Cathaoirleach of the Council and the Chairpersons of the local authority’s four Strategic Policy Committees as well as a Municipal District representative. The Chief Executive and the Council’s Management Team play a key role in supporting and advising this policy group.
An opportunity now exists for the position of Senior Executive Engineer.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the efficient management of staff and the work programme of the directorates/department and function to which they are assigned. Managers at this level work within defined parameters relevant to the position, in accordance with the Local Authority’s vision and objectives as set out in its Corporate Plan and the role is interchangeable across directorates. Delivery of efficient services and value for money is crucial.
The Senior Executive Engineer will be required to lead a team or teams and to provide technical and managerial support across all local authority service areas and to liaise with external agencies and support the democratic process.
