INFORMBIO will support preparations for a bioeconomy observatory for a sustainable and circular bioeconomy by developing an INtegrated Framework fOr the Mapping, Modelling and Monitoring of Irelands BIOeconomy. INFORMBIO will; map and analyse Irelands sustainable raw material base and biobased value chain opportunities; model bioeconomy scenarios to understand their potential to help Ireland meet its climate and sustainability targets and monitor the impact of the bioeconomy in the form of a prototype bioeconomy monitoring system. Munster Technological University (MTU) is currently recruiting a Business and Engagement Researcher to join the INFORMBIO team. Working within the MTU InformBio team at CircBio Research Group alongside partners Teagasc, NUI Galway and the CSO, the successful candidate will assess business cases for Irelands bioeconomy, co-develop a foresight study towards a sustainable Irish bioeconomy, and support development of project promotional materials and event. The researcher will evaluate final business cases for a chapter in a national bioeconomy foresight study in collaboration with partners working on aligned LCA and foresight cases. About the NMCI The National Maritime College of Ireland (NMCI), located in a purpose-built facility in Ringaskiddy, Co. Cork, provides education and training for the merchant marine as well as catering for the non-military training needs of the Irish Naval Service (INS). The NMCI is a constituent college of Munster Technological University (MTU) and is Irelands designated national centre for the provision of education and training for the maritime sector. The NMCI was the first higher education college in Ireland to be built under a Government public-private partnership (PPP) scheme. The public partners are the Munster Technological University (MTU) and the Irish Naval Service (INS). In the NMCI, the INS is responsible for the provision of education and training programmes to its own personnel. MTU is responsible for all activity outside of that covered by the INS. NMCI Services and Activities The services and activities provided by the NMCI, outside of those provided by the INS, may be categorised under the following headings: 1. Duties of the Post The appointee will be responsible through the Dean of Faculty/President for the efficient and effective management and control of the NMCI, and for its development in accordance with the Universitys policies and plans. The Department of Applied Social Studies at Munster Technological University encompasses programmes in Social Care Work, Counselling & Psychotherapy, Play Therapy and Community Development.
