  • MMD Construction is seeking to recruit an experienced and driven Assistant Manager in Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS)to join our team in Cork. Reporting directly to the EHS Manager, the successful candidate will provide expert guidance, support, and oversight to Project and Site Managers across multiple sites. The role focuses on the implementation and continuous improvement of our safety, quality, and environmental management systems, in line with ISO standards and legislative requirements. Key Responsibilities Support the implementation of company-wide EHS policies and continuously improve systems in line with ISO standards. Guide and advise site and project teams on daily safety and environmental matters, ensuring full compliance with legislation. Lead and develop MMDs EHS Graduate Programme in line with corporate objectives. Deliver regular toolbox talks, site inductions, audits, and safety inspections. Prepare and review Construction Management Plans, contract award documentation, and Pre-Construction Health & Safety plans. Assess and advise on risk assessments and method statements, recommending improvements to reduce risk. Promote a proactive safety culture and engage staff through training, onboarding, and regular safety briefings. Monitor legislative updates to ensure internal practices remain compliant and up to date. Contribute to the delivery of key EHS performance indicators and reporting to management. Participate in incident investigations, root cause analysis, and preventative action plans. Ensure all documentation is accurately maintained in line with the ISO Management System. Represent MMD Construction at site and project meetings as required. Carry out other HSE-related duties as assigned by the EHS Manager or Senior Management. Qualifications & Experience BSc in Health and Safety or Higher Diploma/Diploma in Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (SHWW). Minimum 5 years' experience in a similar EHS role within the construction industry. Strong working knowledge of Irish construction legislation and best practice. Construction experience essential. Safe Pass and Manual Handling certificates required. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher). Competencies & Behaviours Proactive and self-motivated with a solution-focused mindset. Strong organisational and time-management abilities. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Confident in delivering training and engaging with teams across all levels. Capable of working independently and collaboratively in a team setting.     Quality Manager (Construction) MMD Construction is seeking to employ an experienced Quality Manager (Construction) to drive quality excellence and compliance across our projects. This role is key to ensuring our projects are delivered Right First Time, meeting industry standards, and promoting a culture of continuous improvement. This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated individual with construction experience to work on a wide range of exciting projects. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting project planning and execution across multiple sites, working closely with site teams, quantity surveyors, and project managers. Key Responsibilities Develop and update project schedules using Microsoft Project, encompassing the full project scope, key milestones, and timelines, using Critical Path Methodology (CPM). Prepare tender and construction programmes and methodologies for both traditional and design & build projects. Produce lookahead programmes, progress trackers, and assist in developing as-built programmes. Support project teams by identifying risks and offering planning solutions. Coordinate with internal stakeholders including site teams, QS teams, and project managers etc. Facilitate white board meetings to review programme status and collaborate on weekly planning. Assist in establishing project resource requirements. Contribute to the continuous improvement of planning processes and reporting tools. Any other ad hoc duties as required. Candidate Requirements Minimum 6 years ‘on site experiencepreferably within the construction sector. Proficiency in Microsoft Project. Strong IT skills, with the ability to produce clear reports and planning documentation. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong organisational and time management abilities with a proactive approach to meeting deadlines.     This is a fantastic opportunity for a highly motivated and ambitious Project Quantity Surveyor to work side by side with a Senior Quantity Surveyor on an exciting Agri-Food infrastructure Project and join a growing team on a permanent basis. Site Based – 2 Year Project Duration Location : North Munster/Midlands Area Duties: Manage day to day commercial and contract activities of a project lifecycle Including the following: Handover from Estimating Department Pre-contract Commencement Meeting with the Project Team. Generate Project Budgets. Prepare cash flow for the project based on the Contract Programme for issuing to the Employers Quantity Surveyor. Re measure packages as required to identify any quantity errors i.e. over/under measure and to process Tender enquiries accurately and to mitigate contract Risks. Prepare Tender enquiry packages liaising with the Contracts Manager. Create and use Procurement tracker. Complete Subcontract Package tender analysis Lead pre-appointment subcontractor meeting to ensure scope is clearly defined & appoint subcontractor in line with Companies subcontract terms and in line with the main contract conditions. Validate/Remeasure and approve sub-contractors’ interim applications and final submissions including compliance with the Construction Contracts Act Notify Design Team of any Change Orders/ Variations and track changes on the Change Order/ Variation Schedule. Attend and participate in internal and external meetings. Issue and agree schedule of monthly progress application/ valuation dates. Prepare and submit valuations on a monthly basis and agree with Clients Quantity Surveyor. Prepare monthly Cost Value Reconciliation Reports and Overall Complete Project Reports for review with Senior Quantity Surveyor/Contracts Managers. Maintain a productive relationship with all the Design Team professionals and Client representatives throughout the project. Ensure the full and proper implementation of the Companies Commercial procedures. Requirements: Third level qualification in Quantity Surveying & Construction Economics and or an equivalent degree recognised by the Society of Chartered Surveyors of Ireland (SCSI) 3+ years of proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor in the construction industry with a main contractor (Experience in Civils and In-situ Concrete Frames would be an advantage) Strong knowledge of construction contracts, procurement methods and cost control procedures. Proficiency in quantity surveying software and MS Office Suite. In-depth knowledge and understanding of construction processes, techniques and systems. Demonstrates commercial awareness. Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and team members.
