Job Description
This Work Placement Experience Programme provides Participants with an opportunity to gain meaningful work experience, learning and training while on the programme. The programme is for jobseekers who are in receipt of qualifying social welfare payments and those transferring from a social welfare scheme or an ETB Training Allowance.
Role Responsibilities
Diagnosing faults in domestic appliances
Communicating with customers when taking in repairs
Providing customers with estimates of their repairs
Testing to identify faulty components on circuits and appliances
Operating workshop management and POS software systems
Basic parts and stock management
Observing experienced staff carrying out workshop tasks
Basic manual handling training
Carry out repairs to the highest standard while observing all safety & electrostatic precautions
Training & Development
Formal Training (Minimum 20 Hours)

Introduction to workshop health and safety procedures
Basic manual handling training
Introduction to workshop tools and equipment
Basic parts and stock identification
Workplace communication and teamwork skills
Informal Training / On-the-Job Learning (Minimum 40 Hours)
Observing daily workshop operations
Learning how tools and equipment are stored and maintained
Assisting with organising parts, tools, and materials
Learning workshop housekeeping and safety procedures
Observing experienced staff carrying out workshop tasks
Becoming familiar with the workflow and organisation of a working workshop
