Responsibilities of Occupational Therapist Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate occupational therapy interventions for patients in acute and rehabilitation settings. Carry out comprehensive functional assessments addressing activities of daily living (ADLs), cognition, perception, upper limb function, seating, and environmental needs. Develop and implement individualised, goal-oriented treatment plans in collaboration with patients, families, and the multidisciplinary team. Contribute to safe and timely discharge planning, including home assessments, equipment prescription, and onward referrals as required. Educate patients, families, and carers on functional strategies, equipment use, and rehabilitation goals. Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential clinical documentation in accordance with professional, legal, and organisational requirements. Work collaboratively with medical, nursing, physiotherapy, speech and language therapy, social work, and other relevant disciplines. Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, case conferences, and ward rounds as required. Communicate effectively with community services to ensure continuity of care. Adhere to hospital policies, procedures, and clinical governance frameworks. Comply with health and safety legislation, infection prevention and control policies, and risk management procedures. Participate in audit, quality improvement initiatives, and service development projects.
