Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site position for a Sous Chef located in Galway.
Assist the Head Chef in leading the kitchen team.
Oversee daily food preparation and kitchen operations to ensure high-quality food production.
Supervise food safety and hygiene standards.
Maintain inventory and cost control.
Mentor and train junior kitchen staff.
Contribute to menu planning and innovative recipe development.
Ensure consistent execution of McSwiggans’ food philosophy which emphasizes fresh, locally sourced ingredients and creative presentation.
Qualifications
Proficiency in culinary techniques, food preparation, and kitchen management
Experience with menu development, recipe creation, and food cost control
Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to train and mentor staff
Commitment to food safety, hygiene standards, and maintaining a clean work environment
Understanding and passion for working with fresh, locally-sourced ingredients
Ability to perform under pressure and maintain high-quality standards in a fast-paced environment
Previous experience in a similar role, ideally in a steak or seafood-focused restaurant
Formal culinary training or relevant certifications are a plus
Strong communication and organizational skills
