As part of our expansion, we are currently looking for a suitably motivated Graduate Embedded Test Engineer to join our group. We are seeking a high-caliber Graduate Embedded Test Engineer to join our newly formed testing team, starting in Summer 2026. This is a role designed to launch your career in the specialized field of aerospace-grade software verification. As a scale-up working on next-generation Free Space Optics (FSO) and space-grade hardware , we offer a unique environment where you will learn to bridge the gap between software and physical hardware. You will be mentored by senior engineers to develop the rigorous testing mindsets required for systems where "rebooting" is not an option once they are in orbit. The Role This position is a foundational role within our new testing department. You will receive hands‑on training to analyze requirements and technical designs, eventually taking ownership of the verification processes for our mission‑critical software. What You'll Do Test Planning and Design: Learn to analyze technical specifications to create comprehensive test plans. You will collaborate with the development team to define test scopes and strategies for high‑reliability systems. Test Execution and Analysis: Execute manual and automated test cases across our technology stack. You will identify and document defects, performing root cause analysis to ensure our hardware survives the rigors of space. Testing Breakdown: Embedded Software: 55% (The core of our FSO terminals) Backend Applications: 30% Networking Protocols: 10% Web Front End: 5% Test Automation: Receive training in designing and maintaining automated test scripts. You will contribute to our CI/CD pipelines, integrating automated tests to ensure continuous software quality. Collaboration: Work within an Agile environment, communicating test progress and results directly to developers and product owners. Who You Are We are looking for an ambitious graduate with a strong technical foundation and a meticulous eye for detail. Education: A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline. Foundational Knowledge: An understanding of software testing concepts and the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC). What you'll do Design and schematic capture of circuits for optical control, electromechanical control, optical readout and optical signal chain processing Printed Circuit Board (PCB) layout of above designed circuits, including exposure to high speed RF layout Support component selection suitable for space‑grade hardware and aerospace deployment Design of circuits to AS/EN9100 and relevant JEDEC standards, with specific reference to aerospace standards Creation and specification of power budgets for (sub)systems Development of (sub)systems from prototype to aerospace‑qualified products Work closely with interdisciplinary mechanical and optical teams to design in mechanically and thermally constrained environments with strict optical requirements Design and modelling of analogue (optical) readout & signal processing circuits such as TIAs, DACs, etc. Simulation of PCBs for next generation Free Space Optics (FSO) transceivers Development of noise models and link budgets Test of designed circuits to validate performance in a laboratory environment Documentation and review of design, test & validation of (sub)system designs Design of test platforms for circuit testing Who you are Bachelors or Masters in Electronic Engineering or similar Strong fundamental understanding of electronics design, including analogue and digital circuit design Familiarity with PCB design software: Altium, EAGLE, KiCAD, or PADs Foundational knowledge of signal integrity and impedance matching Experience with SPICE simulation for analogue circuit verification Understanding of communications protocols e.g. CAN, SPI, UART, I2C Hands‑on experience with typical electronic laboratory test equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, etc.) through university projects or internships would be beneficial. What you’ll do To become a key part of the senior mechanical engineering team and help deliver on Mbryonics’ aspiring goals from optical communications terminals to the underpinning manufacturing processes. To employ a “test early” approach by prototyping your designs in our fully equipped on‑site manufacturing workshop.   • Network Research Engineer

The Research Network Engineer is responsible for guiding our network product portfolio by identifying key technology development directions. You will build sample networks that mimic space based network topologies, and then explore the function of various network protocols and management techniques across those topologies. You will explore the best architectures and protocol stacks for layer 2 switching protocols in environments where network nodes are non-stationary (e.g. in orbit) and where latency is higher than normal due to the great distances involved. You will explore layer 3 IP routing protocols in a dynamic environment, where underlying topologies are changing. You will manage a network test lab to mimic customer environments so that modems, software, and optical terminals can be stress tested and certified. Who you are Demonstrated experience managing production IP over Ethernet networks at scale. Experience in modern, high speed networks such as Janet / Géant / Internet2 either in research or industrial applications. Familiarity with wavelength division multiplexing and photonic switching, especially for 5G backhaul or fibre optical data centre exchange networks, O-RAN etc. Strong understanding of layer 2 protocols, including Ethernet framing, Ethernet switching, ARP, Spanning Tree, MAC authentication, 802.1q, and 802.1p. Working knowledge of MEC (Multi‑access Edge Computing): Designing architectures that allow lower‑latency at the edge of a network. Working knowledge of MPLS configuration and operation. Skills in software‑defined networking and network function virtualization to dynamically slice the network for different use cases. Familiarity with orchestration & resource management: Using algorithms (and increasingly AI) to decide where to place a workload for reliability and latency: at the RRH, the local edge, or the central cloud Strong understanding of layer 3 protocols, including IPv4, IPv6, eCPRI, interior gateway routing protocols, exterior gateway routing protocols, VLAN routing, DSCP, and QoS.
