Responsibilities We are looking for a talented PLC Programmer with expertise in ABB PLCs to support the development and maintenance of automation systems for Ship-to-Shore (STS) cranes. The ideal candidate will have hands‑on experience with ABB platforms and a strong understanding of crane control systems. Experience with other PLC systems such as Siemens, Allen‑Bradley, or Schneider Electric is highly valued. Design, program, and maintain ABB PLC‑based control systems for STS cranes. Develop automation logic using ABB Automation Builder, Control Builder, and IEC 61131‑3 languages. Integrate PLCs with HMI/SCADA systems for real‑time monitoring and diagnostics. Troubleshoot and optimize control systems to ensure safe and efficient crane operations. Collaborate with cross‑functional teams including electrical, mechanical, and software engineers. Support system commissioning, testing, and documentation at port terminals. Ensure compliance with safety standards and industry regulations. Provide technical support and training to operations and maintenance teams. Qualifications, Requirements And Experience Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Mechatronics, or related field. Minimum 3 years of experience in industrial PLC programming. Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and mechanical drawings. Willingness to travel for site installations and commissioning. Senior Service Engineer - Harbour Mobile Cranes A vacancy has arisen for a Senior Service Engineer (Harbour Mobile Cranes) in our Maritime Crane department based from Dublin, Ireland. The role contributes to the success of the Maritime Crane Department for Liebherr Construction Equipment Ireland by carrying out effective maintenance and repair work on equipment out at customer premises or on site, ensuring both quality standards and timelines for repair are optimised at all times, leading to increased customer confidence and repeat business whilst providing outstanding customer service. Responsibilities Work with the customer in mind, maintaining quality work standards and ensuring the repair site is left clean and satisfactory to the customer. Plan and carry out servicing, inspection, and repair of machinery and equipment at customer premises or at the depot. Support the Maritime Technical Manager in mentoring apprentice and service engineers. Focus on harbour crane types and become familiar with other product types within the Maritime Construction Crane Division. Diagnose fault issues and take appropriate action. Perform electrical fault diagnosis and repair (predominantly 24 Vdc and 220–240 Vac). Undertake hydraulic fault diagnosis and repair. Work at heights. Lead in planning, building, and dismantling LHM cranes. Manage time to meet deadlines and comply with company expectations. Comply strictly with manufacturer guidelines and recommendations. Return all warranty and other return parts cleaned and on time, ensuring correct packing and labelling processes. Read, understand, file, and distribute all service information appropriately. Develop working relationships with the depot support team and support others as required. Maintain a healthy and safe working environment for self and others. Complete administration and paperwork effectively and on time. Build outstanding rapport with all customers and remain flexible to meet their needs. Identify and contribute to improving work processes to drive greater efficiency. Use initiative and optimise down‑times to pay courtesy visits to customers.
