Primary Design Electrical Engineer | Ireland
Role Purpose
As Primary Design Electrical Engineer you will be responsible for the lead technical support on projects, from initial enquiry and tendering right through to construction, commissioning and energisation across all Kirby business units. The role will require an adaptable and agile individual who will work with various sections across the entire business, with a particular emphasis on the HV electrical elements of M&E projects. While the role_uri will be primarily focusing on M&E installations and projects, the successful applicant will be part of the Power & Renewables engineering team affording them the opportunity to expand their knowledge and experience on electrical installations up to 400kV.
Primary Design Electrical Engineer Responsibilities
Produce Primary Plant designs for the development and delivery of HV substation projects.
Produce engineering reporting documentation such as CT burden assessments, control building lighting and heating calculations.
Produce Substation compound and building layout drawings, incorporating the TSO/DSO Specifications and Employer’s Requirements in the design documentation.
Co‑operate with internal teams such as Secondary design, civil and operations engineers, consultants, contractors, and clients to ensure technical compliance.
Produce and review all primary plant technical drawings, specifications, and documentation.
Ensure designs are produced in compliance with applicable standards (IEC, IEEE, EN etc.) and regulatory requirements such as fire and evacuation regulations.
Provide technical support during installation, testing, and commissioning phases.
Identify and mitigate safety and design risks and resolve technical issues proactively.
Necessary requirement of the Electrical Project Engineer
3rd level Qualification in Electrical Engineering
Minimum of 3 years in Primary Engineering Design/project management experience on industrial installation projects
Professional and commercial acumen and be capable of representing Kirby at a senior level in meetings
Detailed understanding of HV and MV network requirements in industrial settings, with particular emphasis on resilience and studies requirements
Experience with energy management systems and integration of automated control systems to electrical networks
A proven track record of delivering projects on time and to budget
Experience of managing multiple projects at the same time
