  • Clinical Specialist Speech and Language Therapist - Kare Adult Disability Permanent Contract 17.5 hours per week Location: Kilcullen, Co. Kildare Clinical Specialist Speech and Language Therapist Scale: Point 1 €35,702 to max Point 5 €38,507 (pro-rated for part-time hours) The Clinical Specialist Speech and Language Therapist will work on the Adult Clinical Support Team in Kare, contributing to the delivery and future development of an effective service in line with organisational priorities and department objectives, and always acting within their professional standards, guidelines and policy. This position will play a lead role in the development and provision of a high-quality evidence-based Speech and Language Therapy service to adults with intellectual disabilities across residential and day services in Kare and promote person centred practise and interdisciplinary working. Responsibilities: Provide a clinical lead role in the provision of a quality service through assessment, diagnosis and management of communication and dysphagia in adults with intellectual disabilities in Kare residential and day services Ensure that professional standards are maintained through clinical audit, supervision and training Ensure a high standard of assessment, treatment and management and ensure that professional standards of practice are adhered to. Lead and facilitate change management and quality improvement initiatives within the adult SLT service in conjunction with the Clinical Services Manager. Engage with personal development planning and actively participate in induction, clinical supervision, mentoring and reflective practice. Contribute to the development and implementation of procedures, policies and guidelines while adhering to existing standards and protocols. Comply with the policies, procedures and safe professional practice of the Irish Healthcare System by adhering to relevant legislation, regulations and standards. Requirements: A qualification, recognised by CORU, in Speech and Language Therapy. Registered with CORU as a Speech and Language Therapist Have five years full time (or an aggregate of five years) post registration qualification experience. Of which four years full time (or an aggregate of four years) post registration qualification clinical experience must be required in the area of specialism. Demonstrate a proven record of clinical excellence. Candidates must demonstrate evidence of continuing professional development relevant to the required area of specialism, in the form of postgraduate qualifications or relevant courses. This role will operate senior member of Kares clinical supports team, providing services to adults with intellectual disability within their day services, home or residential services, as well as clinical supervision, performance management and ongoing service delivery and improvement. Responsibilities: Plan, prioritise and organise a clinical caseload relevant to the role Plan assessment and deliver individualised or group physiotherapy interventions as appropriate to the needs identified Collaborate with the service user, all carers and supports staff to identify goals for the service user and plan interventions as appropriate to the situations that present. The successful candidate will join an established Interdisciplinary CDNT, which reconfigured in 2014, providing quality, evidenced based and family-centred supports for children and young people aged 0-18 years, who present with complex needs associated with a disability, within an interdisciplinary framework, to support their development to enable active participation in community life. The Interim Occupational Therapist Manager in the CDNT of Kare will be responsible for the delivery and development of a high quality, integrated and effective Occupational Therapy service within an interdisciplinary service model, and will work in collaboration with CDNMs in the Health Region and other Discipline Managers in CDNTS, Primary Care and CAMHS to ensure particular elements as set out in this Job Specification and that emerge as service priorities are progressed.
