  • Senior Mechanical Design Engineer  

    - Sligo

    Overview KAON Automation is seeking a dynamic and experienced individual to excel in the field of automation. KAON Automation has been providing custom-designed automation solutions to leading manufacturing companies globally since 2005 and has a proven track record of providing innovative and flexible solutions. A successful candidate will work on challenging, innovative projects within a highly technical and collaborative working group. As a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for the design and implementation of automated equipment. Key Responsibilities Work within the design team to develop innovative concepts from customer requirements. 3D Design of Mechatronic equipment including mechanisms, transfer systems, servo systems, robotics, pneumatics, electrical equipment, and machine guarding systems. Hands-on involvement at the build and debug stage to ensure designs meet performance specifications. Ability to take responsibility for large projects and manage cross-functional teams through the life cycle of a project. Give guidance and direction to machine build technicians to help them realize designs. Ensure that the customer end goals are being achieved. Design and implement process improvements for existing automation equipment. Prepare detailed tooling drawings and pneumatic schematics. Liaise with suppliers for component procurement. Liaising with customers on requirement specifications and project deliverables. Preparing detailed safety risk assessments and FMEAs. Development of machine documentation to meet EU standards. Meeting project delivery deadlines. Excellent communication skills are vital as you will have to work within a technical team and be expected to communicate on job specifications and issues occurring on a day-to-day basis. Key Requirements Educated to degree level in a relevant engineering discipline. Minimum 4 years relevant experience including: Involvement in significant automation projects with responsibility for design sign-off, installation, and commissioning. Extensive experience in a machine design role. Strong experience using 3D CAD applications e.g., SolidWorks. Excellent communication skills are vital to communicate effectively on job specifications, technical direction, and issues daily. Must be a self-starter with good attention to detail, willing to take ownership and responsibility to realize project milestones and timelines. Must be keenly interested in engineering technology and remaining knowledgeable about the cutting edge of automation technology. Project management experience advantageous. Proven track record in problem-solving and delivering solutions. Demonstrate ability to take initiative and be innovative. Current driving license and able to travel as required.   • Electrical Build Technician

    KAON AUTOMATION is a Sligo based company specialising in offering our clients advanced automation solutions to their manufacturing requirements comprising of mechanical mechanisms, pneumatics, robotics, electrical control systems, vision systems and servo systems. Our customers are typically large pharma multinational companies, and we provide solutions in Ireland, Europe, Asia and South America. We are currently seeking to recruit a qualified electrician to join our machine build team. Job Description & Duties Your primary role in KAON Automation is to be responsible for the build and debug of machines. The main aspects of the job include: Mechanical assembly and debugging of customised automated assembly machines. Marking up any changes to mechanical and electrical drawings that change during the machine build phase. Electrical field wiring aspect of machine building. Electrical wiring of machine control panels (qualifications permitting). On-site installation of equipment. Meeting project delivery deadlines. Maintaining GMP standards. Complying with company safety policies. Managing materials related to the machine build. You will be responsible for signing off that the electrical aspects of a machine are up to standard before any equipment is shipped. This role in the company is critical to the success of a project and requires self-critical and detailed workmanship in order to be able to set the highest standards for the practices in the company. The mechanical aspects of the job involve assembling components from detailed assembly drawings and then mechanical fault finding and problem solving. You will also be required to build pneumatic and electrical schematics required on the machine and detail any changes. You will be involved in the mechanical and electrical debug after the machine is powered up. Responsibilities Machine build. Innovate modifications & solutions. Panel build and field wiring. Electrical / mechanical debug. Read / mark-up electrical drawings. Debugging of machines: Electrical/ Mechanical. Managing the machine build materials during build. Restocking of components e.g. screws, profile accessories. Quality / pre-delivery checks / testing. Minor milling, drilling. Tidy up tools. General tool maintenance. Educational, Experience, Skills & Competencies Electrician qualification. 3+ years relevant experience ideally working in a manufacturing environment. Computer literate. Good knowledge of health and safety. Willing to take ownership. Self-starter with good attention to detail. Proven track record in delivering solutions. Legally able to work in Ireland.
