    Senior Engineer – Kildare Key Duties Responsibilities Review the design in detail for buildability and generate a schedule of issues for each stage of construction. Maintain this list and update during construction, reviewing regularly with the JJR Project Manager on site and provide mitigation proposals or solutions. Ensure, by agreement with the project manager, that the project has the required engineering and technical resource to fulfil all engineering duties. Provide necessary leadership to any engineering staff reporting directly to you. Understand any mentoring and training requirements. Liaise with the design team to ensure the construction team has all the required information to construct the Works. Hold responsible people to account for providing required design information and responding. Provide clear reporting to the project management team to enable them to understand design status and impact if any to project. Be fully aware of the programme of the project. (Design, Procurement, Lead‑in and Construction). In addition to the programme requirements, challenge the design to provide commercial benefit where possible. Take responsibility for dimensional control from ensuring the project has the required primary control information to the site engineering team providing any required setting out for the Works. Ensure robust checking system is in place to continually monitor and provide required assurance on setting out. Submit all technical submissions delegated to you from the PM within the scope of works you have responsibility for within the required timescales including taking note of required approval / response periods so that there is no impact to the programme. Generate an Inspection and Test Plan Schedule in line with the Works Information that provides the necessary inspections and hold points during construction using a benchmark if possible. Generate and/or review method statements and risk assessments in conjunction with the wider team timely, ensuring buildability and safe systems of works are prioritised at all times. Carry out necessary inspections and audits of Works or delegate to suitable team members to ensure that all required inspections are being carried out. In conjunction with the site management, ensure all contractors adopt a safe system of works. Review all method statements for which you have responsibility prior to the works commencing. Take specific care in the high‑risk works involved. Take responsibility for coordination of all temporary works within your scope of works and maintain a temporary works register on site. Senior Engineer responsible for all temporary works, manage a temporary works coordinator but must have full responsibility on temporary works. Participate in weekly services engineering meetings or as required to provide constant updates to the project management team on engineering function e.g. resources, risks, design and buildability issues. Ensure all relevant persons are in attendance. Understand the individual package values for which you have engineering responsibility and report on individual events that may have an impact on these values. Ensure all events that may have a commercial and/or time impact are clearly reported to the project manager or lead for the services area you are responsible for. Maintain detailed diaries with relevant information as agreed with the site management. Ensure site engineers maintain detailed diaries / records too and provide solutions to problems encountered. Ensure the design is coordinated to allow for all building services as coordinated. Where there is a problem ensure this is immediately flagged to the project manager or design coordinator. Attend weekly design meetings as required. Understand and employ the project / company quality system to ensure the required quality assurance is being adopted for all trades and for ensuring that all trade’s inspection and test plans are in place and are being fully adhered to. You are responsible for requesting any training that may be required to ensure that this is fully complied with. Ensure all contractors comply with the required quality control on site. A system must be employed whereby the contractor must offer their works for inspection to JJR to a pre‑agreed plan. All actions from each inspection must be closed out (or to a standard agreed by the project manager) before the senior engineer provides approval for the next stage of works to proceed. This must all be done in line with the project manager and other team members as it needs to be integrated fully with the required sequence of works. Ensure all site engineers request and receive timely information so that there is no impact to the programme. Hold meeting and document at regular intervals with the engineering team. Provide a schedule of lessons learnt to the Contracts/Project Manager at the end of the project and at relevant times during its execution. Build this schedule as the works proceed. Provide assistance to close out all subcontractor accounts with which you have involvement. Advise engineers on setting out methods and techniques with the responsibility to develop them to their maximum potential. Take responsibility for selection and requisition of materials and plant for the use during the construction works ensuring purchasing department procedures are adhered to at all times. Carry out all work in accordance with health and safety and any other legal requirements. Ensure compliance with JJR Company policies and procedures. Manage the performance of all employees assigned to you in accordance with legislation and company procedures. Attend and engage fully in any learning and development activities that are deemed appropriate by your line management. Ensure detailed site records and photographs are kept by all Team members and ensure quality system is adhered to. Chair weekly site meetings and ensure production of accurate minutes and actions. Chair weekly QA meetings. Build and maintain good relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors and suppliers. Health Safety Ensure site compliance with health safety legislation and the company HS policies management system e.g. inductions, toolbox talks, risk assessment, safety statements, statutory forms, permits, method statements etc. Ensure that the filing system for the company HS management system is set up and up to date. Promote a positive health, safety and environmental culture within the company and set a personal example. Plan and co‑ordinate all work activities and communicate any foreseeable risks and hazardous interfaces with relevant parties to ensure a safe place of work is provided and the Company’s statutory duties are complied with, so far is as reasonably practicable. Assist in preparation of the HS plan or Construction Phase Plan and periodically review it with the HS Advisor and, where applicable, advise the HS Advisor of any necessary changes. Investigate all accidents, incidents and near misses, compile reports and implement any corrective actions identified following the investigation. HS Advisor to assist in this work. Ensure that all contractors on site meet their requirements in relation to the Company HS management system and their statutory obligations. Continuously review site resources to ensure that the Company’s statutory duties and HS procedures are implemented. Discuss any lack of resources with Contracts Manager/ Director as necessary. Report regularly to the Contracts Manager any health, safety or environmental issues causing concern. Arrange regular subcontractor HS supervisor meetings. Take disciplinary action on site as required. (Take advice from CM on this always). Ensure that all actions required following HS Advisors inspections, monthly audits and external audits are carried out and that the audits/inspections are signed off. Ensure fire, emergency and traffic management plans are prepared and reviewed at regular intervals. Ensure where required, a lifting/craneage plan is prepared before arranging for any crane lift. Facilitate the election/appointment of a site safety representative and ensure that they can carry out their functions on site without adversely affecting them. Co‑ordinate the collection of information for the Safety File. Quality To produce and implement JJR full QA system in relation to site activities. Ensure the QA is delegated to the relevant team members on site. Hold weekly QA meetings and minute with the Site Team. Produce inspections and Test plans. Ensure ongoing inspections of all works and maintaining high standards of quality workmanship. Deal with any and all Sub‑contractor QA issues immediately and set the JJR standard. Ensure payments are considered with quality in mind, breakdown of payment schedule to include for QA completion. Review Subcontractors / suppliers products at source and their facilities. Ensure the site is presented in the proper manner to set the environment for a high QA standard. Ensure all samples / sample rooms / sample apartment etc. is presented early in the project to ensure the highest quality. Abilities & Skills Proficient in Microsoft Office: Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and planning software, such as MS Project. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. You are responsible for requesting any training that may be required to ensure that this is fully complied with. As may be required, ensure all contractors comply with the required quality control on site. Under direction from the Senior Engineer, a system must be employed whereby the contractor must offer their works for inspection to JJR to a pre-agreed plan. As the works progress populate the NCR (non-conformance report) register and maintain during construction. Prior to completion understand your involvement in the close out process. Take responsibility for any snags you are directed to. Hold sub-contractors to account, close out all snags by timely so as not to affect handover. Under direction from the Senior Engineer, provide any items of learning to include in the Schedule of Lessons Learnt at the end of the project and at relevant times during its execution. Build this schedule as the works proceed. Provide assistance to close out all sub-contractor accounts with which you have involvement.
