A well-established electrical engineering contractor is seeking a Lead Field HV Commissioning Engineer to play a key role in the delivery of large-scale HV/MV projects across Ireland’s energy infrastructure.
This is a senior, hands‑on position combining HV commissioning expertise, safety leadership, and team development , with significant autonomy on site.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and develop a field-based HV commissioning and maintenance team
Act as Senior Authorised Person (SAP) , carrying out HV switching and isolations on live networks
Lead on‑site commissioning activities including HV switchgear, transformers, protection relays, and control panels
Mentor engineers through to Authorised Person (AP) status
Coordinate training requirements (internal and external)
Ensure HV safety rules and procedures meet industry and statutory standards
Plan and manage work scopes, schedules, and milestones
Attend and contribute to client, vendor, and internal project meetings
Oversee commissioning documentation, testing protocols, and final sign-off
Support and attend FAT/SAT activities as required
Experience & Skills
Minimum 5 years’ experience in HV/MV commissioning
Proven experience working on live HV networks
Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills
Experience using Omicron and similar protection testing equipment
