Beechwood Veterinary Clinic is seeking an experienced and commercially minded Clinical Director to lead our established small animal practice in Ranelagh, Dublin. This is a senior leadership opportunity for a confident clinician who is ready to step into a pivotal role, combining hands-on clinical excellence with strategic oversight and people leadership. You’ll be joining a stable, well-run practice with a loyal client base and an experienced team already in place – giving you the platform and support to truly make your mark without inheriting chaos. The Role As Clinical Director, you will hold overall responsibility for clinical standards, team leadership, and the ongoing development of the practice. This is a balanced role that allows you to remain clinically active while also shaping culture, performance, and long-term direction. You will work closely with operational and regional leadership, with strong infrastructure and non-clinical support in place, allowing you to focus on what matters most: quality care, engaged teams, and sustainable growth. Your Clinical & Leadership Impact This is a lead-from-the-front position suited to a confident small animal clinician with a strong surgical background. You will act as the senior clinical authority within the practice, setting standards, supporting complex decision-making, and mentoring colleagues. Your responsibilities will include delivering high-quality medical and surgical care, overseeing all surgical activity within the clinic, guiding clinical protocols, supporting case management, and developing the skills and confidence of both veterinary and nursing colleagues. You’ll also play a key role in recruitment, onboarding, performance development, and fostering a positive, accountable team culture. This is a role where your judgement, experience, and leadership presence will genuinely matter. Working Pattern & Rota The role is based on a 40-hour week, worked across 4 or 5 days, with flexibility where possible. Opening hours are 8:00am–6:30pm, with early and late shifts in place to support preparation and close-down. You’ll work one Saturday morning every two weeks (8:15am–1:15pm). There are no Sundays, no out-of-hours, and no bank holiday work. Caseload is a healthy mix of medical and surgical cases, with full surgical oversight sitting with the Clinical Director. The Practice Beechwood Veterinary Clinic is a well-established, first-opinion small animal practice located in Ranelagh, one of Dublin’s most desirable and well-connected residential areas. The clinic is modern, well-equipped, and designed to support efficient, high-quality clinical work. Facilities include a fully equipped operating theatre, comprehensive in-house laboratory, digital X-ray, ultrasound, blood pressure monitoring, and modern diagnostics that enable clinicians to work confidently and thoroughly. The team is intentionally small, experienced, and collaborative, creating an environment where leadership is visible, communication is open, and standards are genuinely valued. About You You will be a VCI-registered Veterinary Surgeon with at least 5 years’ experience in small animal practice, ideally already operating at senior or lead vet level. You are a natural leader who enjoys mentoring, setting direction, and supporting others to perform at their best. You are organised, resilient, and comfortable balancing clinical work with decision-making and accountability. You value high standards, continuity of care, and thoughtful, ethical practice.
