  • IT Staff is recruiting Architects to work on conservation, refurbishment and fit-out projects with a major Irish government agency who is responsible for the management of over 100 State Owned Heritage Buildings in Dublin, including Dublin Castle, National Museum of Ireland Collins Barracks, the Four Courts, Custom House and Rathfarnham Castle. The projects will involve conservation, fit-out, new works and maintenance at state offices and cultural institutions in Dublin. Some projects may also include working with specialist crafts people on historic joinery, plasterwork and metalwork. The candidate will be required to produce Autocad drawing packages, procure projects, work with a design team and manage works on site. Candidates are expected to have 5 years post-graduation experience including managing projects on site. Good design and drawing skills are essential. Conservation experience is desirable and a keen interest in historic structures is expected. Education & Experience It is preferable that Architects to have either a relevant postgraduate qualification in building conservation and/or two (2) years (of the three (3) required) relevant work experience in the conservation of historic buildings and/or national monuments. Additional Preferable Experience: All Personnel should display the following preferable skills and experience: Prior working experience in the field of building conservation, whether working on protected structures and / or heritage buildings and/or sites and / or monuments. Prior working experience on public buildings and / or buildings with government function. Fully conversant, proficient, and up to date knowledge of AutoCAD for the production of contract documentation. The contracts are for a 3 to 4 year period initially offered on a 1 year basis and extended by a further 2 to 3 years.   • Senior Clerk of Works 2 year contract Cork Our Client is seeking a Temporary Senior Clerk of Works (Buildings/Building Services) for a 122-week project at an Art Gallery in Cork. This role involves the redevelopment, refurbishment, and extension of the protected structure. The project includes alterations, renovation, and repurposing of existing buildings, partial demolition, and a new seven-story extension to provide public exhibition areas, a café, storage, studios, and staff facilities. Key responsibilities include internal reordering, reconfiguring existing layouts, altering and replacing internal joinery, relocating a 16th-century fireplace, upgrading stairs and steps, and creating new connections to the extension. The role also encompasses external envelope works such as window replacement and refurbishment, curtain wall glazing upgrades, door replacement, pointing renewal, brick and stonework cleaning and repair, and roof renewal and thermal upgrades. Mechanical and electrical services will be replaced and upgraded, and intermediate floors, structural elements, and building fabric will undergo fire and defect upgrades. The Senior Clerk of Works will report to our Public Works clients Project Manager and ensure that all materials and works comply with planning permission, building regulations, quality standards, and design specifications. This involves liaising with the contractor, subcontractors, the Employers Representative, and the Design Team, while maintaining independence. Duties also include conducting inspections, surveys, taking measurements and samples, maintaining detailed records, and preparing reports. The successful candidate will monitor and report on the coordination of activities, project progress, and compliance with health and safety regulations. Applicants should possess strong technical capability, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Essential qualifications include a degree in Engineering or Architecture, or a Level 07 or higher award in a construction-related specialty, or membership of the Institute of Clerk of Works in Ireland with a Level 06 certificate or FETAC (QQI) Advanced Certificate in a recognized building trade. Candidates must also have 7 to 10 years of practical experience supervising complex building works, including new build, refurbishment, and conservation, with expertise in mechanical and electrical services. Further requirements include proficiency in measuring, surveying, record-keeping, and technical report writing, as well as an understanding of construction contract procedures, particularly Public Works Contracts. A strong comprehension of current Building Regulations, Irish health and safety legislation, and computer literacy are also necessary. The role demands strong personal judgment, technical skill, and excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.
