    Competition and Consumer Protection Commission Dublin The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) is the statutory body responsible for enforcing and promoting compliance with competition, consumer protection and product safety law and has a mandate to promote competition and consumer welfare across the whole of the economy. Our aim is to make markets work better both for consumers and businesses. The CCPC’s work is a vital part of the Irish competitiveness agenda which is a key objective of the current government. In recent years the CCPC has increased its activity and impact and has an ambitious plan to continue this trend. It has also received new functions which have required it to expand its number of divisions. Role Overview The successful applicant will have a significant role in shaping Irish competition and consumer protection policy and supporting economic growth. The candidate will be a key part of Irish merger policy and will be a decision maker on all Phase One mergers in the State. They will play a pivotal role in driving meaningful change in markets by leading teams to develop impactful evidence‑based recommendations and advocating for change with a range of stakeholders (such as senior civil servants, politicians, and the media).     Overview Corporate Enforcement Authority (CEA) Dublin Salary: €107,081.00 per year (pro rata) Contract: Temporary (expected 9-12 months) Role The Corporate Enforcement Authority (CEA) is seeking an experienced and commercially astute legal leader to join its senior management team as Director of Legal & Policy. Reporting to a Member of the Authority, this is a high-impact role at the centre of Ireland’s corporate enforcement framework. This position will suit a senior barrister or solicitor who is motivated by public interest work and ready to lead complex enforcement, litigation and advisory activity within a modern regulatory environment. Responsibilities You will provide strategic legal advice across a wide range of areas including company, criminal, civil, administrative and regulatory law. You will lead on investigations and enforcement actions, shape litigation strategy (civil and criminal), and support prosecutions, including engagement with the Director of Public Prosecutions. You will oversee civil proceedings such as judicial review and restriction/ disqualification cases, contribute to legislative development, and manage external legal advisors. You will play a key leadership role—developing a high-performing legal team, contributing to organisational strategy, and ensuring strong governance and risk management practices. About You You are a qualified barrister or solicitor in Ireland with a minimum of 5 years’ post-qualification experience at a senior level. You bring strong expertise across at least two of the following: company law, criminal law/procedure, civil law/procedure, regulatory/enforcement law, or administrative law. You are comfortable operating in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment, handling complex legal matters and large volumes of information. You demonstrate sound judgement, clear decision-making, and the ability to lead and influence at senior level. A strong understanding of public sector responsibilities and a commitment to the public interest are essential.
