  • Overview Waterford City & County Council hosts the National Office for Healthy Ireland Local Government under a Service Level Agreement with the Department of Health until 31 December 2027. The Healthy Ireland Local Government National Co‑ordinator will provide national leadership and coordination for the Healthy Cities & Counties programme and Sláintecare Healthy Communities, working with 31 local authorities, the HSE, state agencies, community organisations, and the WHO European Office. The post will be hosted by a Local Authority within the programme and is funded by the Department of Health. Responsibilities Lead the national implementation of the Healthy Cities and Counties programme and Sláintecare Healthy Communities. Provide national leadership and coordination for the two main Healthy Ireland programmes. Collaborate with all 31 local authorities, the HSE, state agencies, and community organisations to develop and deliver programmes. Coordinate Local Development Officers and Healthy Cities and Counties Coordinators nationwide. Report to the HILG National Steering Committee, the National Committee of Healthy Cities and Counties, and the Department of Health. Report to the County and City Management Association’s nominated committee (CCMA Rural, Community & Culture Committee).
