What They Are Looking For
The business is seeking a Commercial Director to sit at executive level and lead the commercial function across the organisation. This role will report directly to the Managing Director and work closely with Operations, Pre-Construction, and Project Leadership teams to drive commercial performance across the portfolio.
The position has been created to support sustained growth, strengthen governance, and elevate commercial strategy as project scale and complexity continue to increase. The Commercial Director will take ownership of risk, margin, and commercial outcomes, while mentoring senior commercial staff and embedding best practice across the business.

Responsibilities
Lead the commercial strategy across all live and future projects
Full oversight of project financial performance, margins, and cash flow
Establish and maintain robust commercial governance and reporting frameworks
Oversee procurement strategies and contract negotiations
Manage CVRs, forecasting, risk, and opportunity across the portfolio
Provide commercial leadership and guidance to project teams
Mentor, develop, and structure the senior commercial team
Support pre-construction and bid strategy from a commercial perspective
Build and maintain strong client and stakeholder relationships
Work closely with the board on strategic planning and growth initiatives
Criteria for the Role
Extensive senior-level experience in commercial management within construction
Proven track record on large-scale or complex building projects
Strong leadership and team development capability
Deep understanding of contracts, risk, and commercial governance
Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or similar
Chartered status (RICS / equivalent) highly regarded
Confident communicator at both project and board level
What’s On Offer
