Extern is operating the Janus Justice programme under the Bail Supervision Scheme (BSS). The Janus Justice project engages young people aged 12-18 and covers Limerick, Clare and surrounding Counties. Janus Justice offers targeted support to young people who are involved in offending behaviour in the community. The Project Worker provides a tailored intensive one-to-one intervention, and support is provided to the young person who is at high risk of reception into custody, at risk of an escalation of their offending/ anti-social behaviours, who are not engaging in the Youth Diversion Programme or are in living in Residential Care. Referrals are taken from the Juvenile Liaison Officers (JLO), Probation Service, Court Service and Oberstown. The Project Worker will hold a small caseload of 5 young people to facilitate the intensive piece of work. The programme content concentrates on addressing the criminogenic risk factors leading to their offending/anti-social behaviour. Programme content is also based on meeting specific individual needs through the development of pro-social skills and behaviours, improve community involvement, provision of experiential learning opportunities, and family work to improve relationships within the home. The programmes are creative and dynamic, utilising local, regional and national resources to facilitate intervention strategies. Planned and responsive respite provision is integral to the programmes delivery. About the Role: The Project Worker will be required to deliver all aspects of the programme in a flexible manner as part of a team. You will be responsible for developing interventions with young people and their families/carers, as well as working closely with other organisations including the Garda, Young Persons Probation, TUSLA, Court Services and Oberstown Children Detention Campus. Hours: 37.5 standard hours (including breaks) (Flexibility Required) Contract Status: Fixed Term for 12 months (from start of position Location:Watch House Cross, Parteen Road, Limerick About the Service: The Emergency Day Service (EDS) programme is an extension of the Janus and Timeout programmes as they exist within the Extern suite of services and aims to prevent reception into care and/or to support community or foster placements, both long and short term. The programme also aims to support young people returning to the community from residential care/ custody when required. The programme also aims to provide immediate, flexible support to young people without placements and to enhance placement stability and reduce placement breakdowns. Part of the service aims to reduce pressure on Social Work teams and commissioners by offering practical, on-the-ground assistance. The project worker may also be called on to support transitions into care, reunification, provide overnight support or support permanency planning. The EDS worker will also be expected to contribute to the gathering of data to inform long-term service planning and resourcing. The EDS worker provides individually tailored support to young people with complex needs and whose behaviour places them at high risk. These young people can be categorised as Hardiker level 3 & 4. Programme content is based on meeting specific individual needs through the development of pro-social behaviours, resilience and positive community interactions by engaging them positively in their local community. The programme/s are creative and dynamic, utilising local, regional and national resources to facilitate intervention strategies. Planned and responsive respite provision is integral to the programme/s delivery. The typical young person with whom we engage would be exhibiting issues with self-esteem and self-worth, may have difficulties with school/ educational placements, be experiencing family breakdown or be engaged in criminal/ anti-social behaviour.
