Position Description A vacancy exists for the position of Hydro Team Member to carry out the duties of Plant Controller. The Plant Controller is responsible for the safe operation of the generating plant and dams at Cathleen Falls and Cliff Generating Stations in Ballyshannon, Co. Donegal. The Hydro Team Member will work across all functional areas within the station, including operations, maintenance, civil, supervision, technical services and contractor management. The successful candidate will work autonomously, be flexible, and be a self‑starter, supporting other teams and projects as required. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with others are required. Flexibility for working hours, including weekends, bank holidays and call‑outs, is expected, and the successful candidate will receive the training required to attain and maintain competencies. Key Responsibilities Safety from the System coordinator (SSC) for Erne & Clady Stations and other SSOW roles as required. Daily C&I and plant checklist, gathering of water level / rainfall data inputting data to OIS system, surveillance and initiating repair of water level devices. Delivering operations‑related communications daily to ensure income maximisation. Input data validations & station commercial checks. Remote monitoring & operation of Donegal stations plant including after‑hours response and shift work including weekends. Water control duties & flood management as per local Water Management Document. Delivering the full scope of projects through implementation, planning, execution and close‑out as required. Logging of public calls/complaints and liaising with other stakeholders. Managing emergency situations. Delivery of work across all areas of the station, including operations, maintenance, civil, technical services and support functions. Work safely, flexibly and to competence, as part of the overall team. Act as team leader / manage maintenance teams in a ‘hands‑on’ capacity as required. Maintain accurate maintenance records using the CMMS. Write SOPs, working instructions and implement procedures. Perform any other duties assigned by the line manager. Support the station in maintaining accreditation in Safety & Environmental Management Systems (ISO45001 & ISO14001). Experience And Qualifications The successful candidate will be self‑motivated, able to work as part of a close team in a Generating Station environment, and interact effectively with other station staff and contractors as necessary. Essential 2 years current/recent experience and knowledge of Hydro Station Plant Operations & Maintenance or experience in the operation of industrial process/production facilities. Full B driving licence. Proficiency in the use of computer systems. Desirable FAS / SOLAS / Electrical Senior Trade qualification or equivalent. Experience in Maintenance, Environmental and Safety Management systems. Plant technical services experience or equivalent. Plant civil works experience or equivalent. Staff and/or Contractor supervision experience or equivalent. Location The successful person will be based at Donegal Stations Ballyshannon but may have to cover in Clady Station Gweedore.
