RESPONSIBLE FOR : Delivering lessons in accordance with ECI standards which stimulate the students, and enhance their confidence in learning the language. Participating in the Activities Programme, providing an experience which is stimulating and culturally enriching for the students, supervising students outside the classroom, overseeing their welfare, safety and discipline at all times.

DATES : July and August
LOCATION : Campuses across the City Centre, Rathgar and Ranelagh areas.
RESPONSIBILITIES :
Induction and Training:
• Attend a teacher training and induction session prior to the course (all teachers).
• Arrive, if possible, two days before the start date to attend a pre-course meeting and training. If this is not possible, the training can be provided on the first day.
Teaching :
• Teach 15–30 hours of English lessons (ECI syllabus) on five days per week, including both morning and afternoon sessions.
• Prepare and deliver lessons as assigned by the Centre DoS, ensuring all photocopies and materials are ready before the lesson. Teachers should not leave the classroom during lessons to avoid leaving students unsupervised.
• Follow the framework syllabus with a focus on language skills in the morning lessons and interactive language use.
• Use recommended resources (or substitute with own resources in consultation with the DoS/Senior Teacher), respecting all copyright requirements.
• Provide feedback to students and assign homework that encourages them to use English outside the classroom (e.g., obtain information or complete task sheets). Homework may be linked to afternoon activities, where students might be asked to report back.
• Maintain accurate class and attendance records, completing the required sheets daily.
• Complete student reports if required by the DoS/Senior Teacher.
• Co-operate with the DoS/Senior Teacher, third-party agents, colleagues from language agencies, and accrediting inspectors during lesson observations and evaluations.
• Report any concerns regarding students to the DoS or Centre Manager as appropriate.
• Attend scheduled staff meetings for briefing and discussion of academic and welfare matters.
• Create a positive and inclusive learning environment, ensuring all students feel engaged.
Activities / Residential:
• Encourage full and enthusiastic participation by students in the scheduled activities programme.
• When supervising activities or excursions, ensure students’ welfare and safety at all times, including during times outside of the normal duty schedule.
• Assist with the welcome, induction, and testing of students on the first morning.
• Collaboration and Integration:
• Liaise with colleagues to ensure that the program delivered is integrated and meets the academic and welfare needs of all students.
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA :
• Primary Degree (minimum level 7 on the National Framework of Qualifications, NFQ) from a recognized third-level institution or university.
• Recognized ESL/EFL qualification in English Language Teaching, approved or certified by ACELS/QQI (details available on www.qqi.ie ).
• Experience working with teenagers is an advantage.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work well as part of a team.
• An interest in other cultures and a professional, presentable appearance.
• Garda Vetting (this is arranged through ECI according to regulations governing the recognised language-school sector in Ireland).
• Completion of level 1 safeguarding course and prevention course (arranged by ECI)
DESIRABLE CRITERIA :
• Experience leading cultural or recreational activities.
• Knowledge of Irish culture and history to enhance the student experience.
WORKING HOURS :
5 mornings per week – Monday to Friday (either 15 hours or 30 hours of teaching weekly depending on age group taught).
OPTIONAL: Afternoon teaching work (on some schedules).
Afternoon and/or evening/weekend work on the activities programme as agreed with the Centre Manager. N.B. Teachers employed on a package basis will be assigned this work weekly. If additional work is available once all of these teachers have had their schedules assigned, the Centre Manager will check availability with other staff members.
SALARY :
Commensurate with experience.
