Reports To Director of Nursing, Assistant Director of Nursing or Clinical Nurse Manager Roster : This is a new and full-time role with The Residence Nursing home, Portlaoise. The hours of work are 40 per week and will include a flexible roster which includes some late evening shifts. It will also require weekend work on a rotational basis. Responsibilities To identify the social activity preferences of each resident. To maintain individual social activity plans for each resident. To plan the daily social activity programme and facilitate external providers to ensure optimum value for the residents. To motivate care staff to be actively involved in the delivery of the social activity programme. To communicate effectively with the staff nurse regarding the well-being of residents to take part in social activity. To develop a good rapport with the relatives/friends of the residents where appropriate. To ensure all staff are aware of planned activities. To manage volunteers in a professional manner. To keep abreast of new developments in care of older persons' social activity programmes. To liaise with the Director of Nursing in organising outings throughout the year. To contribute to the management meeting when requested. To effectively manage the allocated social activity budget. To establish links with and encourage involvement of the local community. To act as an ambassador for the Nursing Home at all times.
