Job Description – Group Head of Operations (Key Person Role)

Purpose of the Role
The Group Head of Operations will play a pivotal role in driving operational excellence, integration, and scalability across the Group. This senior role will support the operational leaders in each of the four businesses – Electro Dublin, Electro NI, Electro Birmingham, and NEAT – ensuring alignment of systems, processes, and performance with the Group’s strategic growth objectives.
Operating across all business units, the role will dip in and out of each company, identifying opportunities for efficiencies, common processes, and best practice, while highlighting and reporting issues directly to the Group CEO.
Once improvement initiatives and projects are established, they will be handed back to local management for ongoing ownership.
This is a key strategic position that underpins the Group’s ability to scale efficiently, enhance profitability, and deliver the objectives of the DLRG Scalability Plan.
Key Responsibilities
Cross-Group Operational Leadership
Provide operational oversight and support to the leadership teams across Electro Dublin, Electro NI, Electro Birmingham, and NEAT.
Identify and implement process improvements and operational efficiencies across all locations.
Ensure best practice sharing between companies and develop a common framework for performance measurement and reporting.
Act as a link between individual business operations and Group leadership, ensuring alignment of objectives and consistency in standards.
Strategic & Project Delivery
Lead cross-company initiatives in key strategic areas such as:
Shared Services Development – HR, Compliance, Finance, and Business Systems.
Productivity Drivers and Efficiency Gains – standardising processes, removing duplication, and improving utilisation.
Cost Reduction and Profitability Enhancement – identifying and implementing margin-improvement initiatives.
Revenue Growth Support – enabling scalability and stronger commercial focus through streamlined operations.
Report regularly to the Group CEO on progress, risks, and outcomes of all operational projects.
Transition completed projects back to company-level ownership once established and embedded.
Systems, Compliance & Governance
Drive consistency across all business units through the implementation of standard Business Management Systems.
Ensure alignment with ISO, health & safety, and compliance frameworks.
Introduce and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess efficiency, service delivery, and profitability.
Work closely with company operational leaders to strengthen local management capability.
Promote a collaborative culture across all sites and encourage shared learning.
Mentor operational Managers to develop their leadership and problem-solving capability.
Strong strategic and operational leadership experience in multi-site or multi-division environments.
Proven success delivering efficiency, cost-saving, and systems improvement programmes.
Strong project management, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
Demonstrated ability to influence without direct authority across multiple teams.
Data-driven decision-making and strong commercial acumen.
Qualifications & Experience
Degree or equivalent qualification in Business, Operations, Engineering, or related discipline (Master’s preferred).
8–10 years’ senior operational management experience, ideally in a multi-business or group structure.
Demonstrable record of delivering process improvement, operational integration, and profitability growth initiatives.
Strategic Impact (Enterprise Ireland Justification)
Provide cohesive leadership across four distinct business entities, ensuring alignment, consistency, and efficiency.
Deliver shared service and systems integration projects that underpin future scalability.
Drive measurable productivity improvements, cost savings, and margin enhancement across the Group.
Build a platform for sustainable growth and export competitiveness through process excellence and improved governance.
By establishing common processes, shared systems, and a stronger operational structure, this role will directly enhance the Group’s capacity to scale efficiently, support revenue growth, and achieve the long‑term objectives outlined in the DLRG plan.
