We are seeking an experienced technologist with a civil or structural technician background to contribute to our vision for a brighter future. This position requires providing advanced civil and structural technician services to support the expansion of Ireland’s electrical transmission network and to help develop innovative engineering solutions for large capital infrastructure projects. Key responsibilities include preparing general arrangement and construction detail CAD drawings (civil and/or structural) and analysing collected data to produce effective civil and structural designs for transmission projects. A third-level qualification in Digital Construction (BIM) or equivalent demonstrable experience Extensive experience using Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD for the design, drafting, and coordination of engineering projects Proficient in creating detailed 2D and 3D models, and collaborating across multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality, BIM-compliant designs Ability to work independently and deliver project deadlines Organised and adaptable with a flexible approach to work.     Overview Generation Projects within Engineering & Major Projects (E&MP) has been established to develop all generation projects, both renewable and thermal projects, as well as managing overhauls and construction projects. Our projects range from major utility scale offshore and onshore wind farms, to solar PV and battery energy storage system (BESS) projects, to flexible generation gas turbine and synchronous condenser projects. This involves working in partnership with Asset Development to develop projects as the business case evolves and progress projects based on risks and opportunities. Projects are expected to be developed from a number of sources, green field, brown field, re-powering, partnerships and acquisition opportunities. Given the differing requirements, E&MP will develop flexible solutions to meet these requirements and is required to adapt to the changing environment of renewable project development. Due to an increase in the volume of work associated with this programme vacancies have arisen for Project Managers in EMP, Generation Projects. Key Responsibilities The Project Manager(s) may be rotated within Generation Projects to work across multiple projects and a variety of technologies. Key responsibilities include the following but not limited to: Act as the single point of contact within Engineering & Major Projects (E&MP) for development of projects, overseeing delivery, safety, and contractor management. Lead cross-functional coordination within E&MP to ensure timely input and support across departments for project execution. Manage all phases of project safety, including design safety, from early development through to handover to the delivery and Operations & Maintenance teams. Oversee tendering and lead contract negotiations for enabling works, EBoP, EPC, and OEMs, ensuring alignment with procurement strategy and business case. Drive planning, grid connection, site investigations, and infrastructure development (electricity, water, broadband) to support project delivery. Manage project schedules, costs, and resource allocation (internal and external), including technical assessments and acquisition evaluations. Support ESB’s Asset Development function in auction readiness (RESS, Capacity, DS3), contracting strategy, and implementation in line with ESB’s Project management (PMO) guidelines. Experience and Qualifications The successful candidate will have: Minimum of 7 years’ experience in an energy or related sector Primary engineering level 8 degree in a relevant discipline and/or relevant work experience. A demonstrated focus on commerciality and stakeholder management Experience with ESB’s Project Delivery Methodology or alternate project management processes A proven track record of developing or delivering infrastructure projects on time and to budget Strong experience in tender preparation and evaluation Experience in leading the preparation of technical specifications A strong understanding of the commercial and technical aspects of project design and construction Excellent communication and report writing skills Understanding the business case of power generation projects and the auction processes. Ability to lead a project team to a high level of performance Understanding of the PSDP and/or CDMC processes A good understanding of commercial contracts, including management of same.   • Senior Electrical Engineer

    Key Responsibilities We are seeking a dedicated Senior Electrical Engineer to support the delivery of our DSO Site Acquisitions and Planning programme. This multimillion-euro CAPEX programme is to directly deliver new distribution substations to meet ESB’s Net Zero 2040 strategy. The role will require the Senior Electrical Engineer to carry out appropriate technical assessments to support the planning and development of sites for new substation infrastructure, grid connections and associated offloading. The role will also involve supporting the Site Acquisitions and Planning team in their regular co-ordination with local authorities, statutory bodies, customers, external consultants, land agents and landowners. The Senior Electrical Engineer will be required to have strong project management and technical design background, detailed knowledge of internal safety procedures and excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. Key responsibility of the role is to provide physical design layouts for new distribution substation projects with a key focus on network design relating to grid connectivity and offloading. Overall responsibility for leading technical meetings to deliver solutions for new network substation infrastructure, high voltage underground cables and overhead lines. Preparation of technical feasibility reports and providing technical support to colleagues in the field of substation design and grid connectivity, meetings and ensuring the verification of designs issued within the group. Management and coordination of technical aspects of the project with all internal and external stakeholders. Collaboration with ESB Network Assets, ESB Networks Planning and EMP Substation Design Standards teams will be particularly important in this role. Overall responsibility for safety as Project Supervisor Design Stage (PSDP). Preparation & review of design risk assessments and project H&S plans as appropriate to support the design and development of projects. A strong work ethic with a clear focus on delivering results within a tight time frame whilst ensuring the safety and quality of the project is not impacted. The ability to manage and coordinate inputs from a range of engineering disciplines and key stakeholders, to act as the Lead Engineer with a solution focused approach for delivery on a number of projects. Experience and Qualifications Working as part of this dynamic team, you will always have new challenges and new problems to solve – working together is key. You will have the autonomy to choose how best to tackle tasks and solve problems with the support of your colleagues. Either level 8 in Electrical Engineering or equivalent work experience is essential 5 years' plus relevant design experience in the field of substation switchgear, power transformers, reactors, high voltage cables and overhead lines design for both transmission and distribution applications. A strong understanding of all elements of tendering and tender evaluations, scoping, planning and design for new substations.
